Xl Transalp - Anyone Got Onions? - andysymmons - 11-07-2010 Been looking round some showrooms today for Mrs Moose and the Transalp caught her eye, she's test riding a 2009 model next Sunday so thought i'd try going fore armed so if anyone has any experience or opinions please feel free to post Cheers in advance Xl Transalp - Anyone Got Onions? - Guest - 11-07-2010 They`re good tough bikes and the engine design has been around for years so well tried and tested. Good choice provided the seat height is ok. Xl Transalp - Anyone Got Onions? - andysymmons - 11-07-2010 The thing that got me was that she says the TDM is too high and heavy but it is lower and lighter than the XL so she might give my mkii a longer trial before commiting Xl Transalp - Anyone Got Onions? - Studley Ramrod - 11-07-2010 Corouk is yer man, I think. He recently had an XL650 and has just got a TDM. I always thought the Transalp was lighter and lower than a TDM ? Only going off the specs. mind. EDIT: The XL700 is a much better bike apparently ! EDITEDIT: 'Tis the xl600 and 650 that are lighter, the 700 is heavier Xl Transalp - Anyone Got Onions? - corouk - 12-07-2010 Moose I'll give you my feedback later on today. Xl Transalp - Anyone Got Onions? - Guest - 12-07-2010 I had a 600 for a while. The only reason I got rid was to get an off roader. It was def lighter and lower than the TDMs but alot less power. Not sure about the newer models but they go forever with good servicing. Hight depends on the shock if you want to compare it to TDM. Standard TDM is about 2-3 inches lower then Transalp. Alp is tho well balanced bike and great to begin with. It forgives a lot. I had a lot of fun with that bike and certainly can recommend it. I would say that Mrs Moose should get a test ride and see how she likes it. One thing to mention are the tyres. If you not planning on using it on dirt roads and of-road then I would change the tyres. The standard Trialwings will only last about 5 - 7K miles on road use. They have a ton's of grip tho. If you need any other info just let me know.
