Ha ha Dappers...forgot about ya blog to the dark side of the world.........would luv to do it......or do a different pass which is considerably nearer to Germany ie, France and Switzerland.....but that one just appeals for some reason, ya reckon it's worth the ride down ??
Anyhow much depends on the pocket money situation next year and a long pass from SWMBO, early days yet.

Great video bye the way, will watch that a few times.

Its a beautious place and ya won't get a donkey slalom in the Alps.....but unless you were on a mega tour is a touch far to go just for that pass.

There are a good few Alpine passes in the same league.

Its funny how you got to one place and they tell you how dangerous the next place is. Then you tell the next place where you came from and they say Jeeeebus you were lucky to survive....and now you are going WHERE.......you will get mugged/robbed/badgered etc etc.

Thing is the boike and me'sen never once felt even slightly threatened in any of the Eastern Euro countries. Have never seen so many friendly people randomly waving from the pavement (even in that transfagarasan vid).

Guys, I've took those pictures, thank you for linking. If you want to come to Romania, allow a full day to get from the border to Bucharest, and one day for the Transfagarasan pass. Romania is still a one lane country, and there are a lot of trucks and cars.

If you want to visit, drop me a line so I could join and show you around.

Here is a bit of everything from the biking Romania

Hi nobike. great pics, thanks was nice to look at them.
My wife is from Slovakia...maybe she has a mis-representation of Romania, i on the other hand have driven trucks in Romania, never any issues, and also spent time in an orphanage on a few occasions and been on a ski trip to Poiana Brasov, eaten a freshly slaughtered pig in somebody's back yard and drank lots of what my friends and i call Squeech ( Romanian home brew schnapps) mmmmmmmm lovely, so no mis-conceptions here about Romanian hospitality and travel there, great country.
