I`ve worked on several so what ya needing to know? The engines are based on the XJ600 motor. Probably best to PM me with questions as it could become a long thread lol.

Not needing to know anything specific, just looking for general knowledge as we have bought one for Mrs TDMTAM & will be picking it up in a week or so.
General condition is good sound healthy, I know he had some clutch slipping issues that have been resolved with new clutch plates & new oil.
With the engine being basically the same as the old XJ600 I know its sound if looked after. Common spares seem easy to get other I know I may need to adapt & improvise if reguired.

I had an XJ 500, '83 to it's demise in '88. 195000kms on it, never missed a beat. Across Europe several times. Lent it to a mate one evening, who promptly rode it into a fallen granite pillar. He flew about 30', running to see how he was, I was amazed that he had time to get the stand down.
A few bruises, and a John Wayne walk for the next week and he was alright.

He didn't get the stand down, front end and frame were so badly bent, engine was sitting on the ground.

Never officially sold here mainly for the US market, though I think they were sold dans le Continent.

If you've a friend or neighbour with an XS650 beware - the funky box section swingarm is a straight fit, lighter and stiffer it much improves the handling. The one on my XS came from a legitimate source but only because I didn't have a friend or neighbour with a Radian

She likes that retro style, ideally she would like a bonnie, as for the rear drum brake it works well & has got to be better than the VT500 (that she has on loan) brakes Anyhow she is slow & cautious when out on the bike.
