Online Prescription Glasses - dmmsta - 10-08-2010 I'm in the need of a new pair of goggles (after I forgot to put the last pair on after my lid, and ran them over DOH). Anyway, I've got my prescription and was thinking about getting the glasses online. Anyone had any experience of any of the online places. Anywhere to avoid / places to use?! Thanks in advance. Adam<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Myself and SWMBO have ordered a quite a few pairs from "Glasses Direct", and been happy with the results, but thier prices have been going up, got my first pair for £15 . Just make sure what style suits you, and check what width and arm length you require. Online Prescription Glasses - dmmsta - 10-08-2010 Cheers for the thumbs up (price isn't so much of an issue, as I have to spend a bit on the lenses to reduce the "milk-bottle" effect standard lenses have on my prescription Online Prescription Glasses - Snorvey - 10-08-2010 Ourselves, friends & family have used www.goggles4u.com on umpteen occassions with no problems whatsoever. Adam<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> A few years back I got some cycling glasses online as specsavers/dollonds and aitchison did not do cycling goggles in shop. They arrived and fitted well but never felt optically correct. I sent them back and theye were replaced but still did not feel right even though the prescription was then correct. I think the problem was they were never fitted to my pupil spacings as they do in the shop. I have now got a pair of prescrition cycling glasses from dollonds ( they do them now) and they are fine. Advantage is that on a push bike they fit your face snugly so, with dropped bars, you still look up, but through the glasses. IMO Best to get them fitted in the shop Pete Online Prescription Glasses - chrislarkin - 10-08-2010 I use these guys. My working glasses came in at £12 a pair. No problems with them. Online Prescription Glasses - jiff - 11-08-2010 ....just to add to the confusion........... I've used <!--coloro:#0000FF--><!--/coloro-->SelectSpecs.com <!--colorc--> <!--/colorc-->on a couple of occasions their range is enormous, prices v.reasonable & service prompt & reliable..... It's fair to say that on one occasion, the prescription felt 'wrong', & I had them checked at St Thomas's Hospital where a wacky (in my opinion) fault was identified. This was remedied by SelectSpecs on payment of a nominal fee, & replacement lenses supplied The error related to the point made by Pete7- that is the placement of the 'optical centre' of the lens - in my case the change in prescription in a Varifocus setup (subtle change fom long focus to close-up - as in bi-focals). Although 'my' error was extreme enough to be considered extraordinary, the point is well made that a face to face (literally!) assesment by an optician would have been unlikely to create the same error. I'll probably get my next specs/lenses from SelectSpecs, not only because of their very attractive prices, but their range of frames is huge, far greater than even the Specsavers/Dollonds/Clulow etc chains good luck......Jiff |
