As per tradition I had to bring my own cake to work, to feed the few not working from home. Turned out not too shabby, methinks.

A generous beef tenderloin is gently simmering in the sous vide for later, and a dark, fiery Irish 16-year old stands ready to round it of. I could get uset to this!

Mmmm what's in yer cakey?

Bottom is a heavy brownie type of cake, 300 g dark chocolate, vanilla, white and brown sugar, butter and flour. Rather nutritious.

 

Middle is raspberry mousse, a good pint of full cream in it. Top is just italian meringue, torched slightly.

Anyone familiar with this (Bjørge for sure)? Norwegian specialty, called Verdens Beste (Worlds' Best). Good chances it is, actually

Sponge cake baked with meringue on top, layered with vanilla custard in the middle. Wifey made it to me today. No flour shortage!

Do I know this cake? It IS the world's best. Recipy is simple; Minimize stuff that ain't particularily tasty, like flour...

 

I do bake it, actually, being the cake person in this house...
