Paying For A Bike You Ask To Be Delivered. - Riggers - 12-05-2020 As lock down is being eased up a bit it looks like dealers are going to reopen. It means I'll be able to buy a bike I've had my eyes on from an out of town dealer, which in turn means it will be delivered and not collected by me,  But does anyone know the 'normal' way payment is made in these cases? I mean will I be expected to pay the whole cost up front or do dealers offer some kind of payment on delivery system?  Just getting my ducks in a row for when negotiations start. ![]()  Cheers all,  Riggers. I've been advised not to do a bank transfer but to pay by debit card. I'm just wondering about the mechanics of it all. What happens and when in a nut shell. Sorry to sound a bit dopey but I've never bought a bike remotely before.  Cheers - oh and did the parcel arrive ok?  Riggers Paying For A Bike You Ask To Be Delivered. - alanfavell - 13-05-2020 Credit card even if it's only part payment eg deposit = the whole transaction is then covered - Debit card does not have this cover. Chargeback isnât legal protection like section 75. Itâs an agreement Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express have signed up to. It has to be between £100 and 30k Paying For A Bike You Ask To Be Delivered. - leehenty - 15-05-2020 Credit card deposit every time, sect 75 is Law, especially with so many firms teetering on bankruptcy. As others have said use your credit card and pay off as soon as. Or paid this guy cash when he dropped it off? All the vehicles I've bought in the last 10 years + have been by bank transfer. I also means you have a record of the payment transaction, just make sure you get the bank details right! Get them to confirm by email when they get the money - usually within an hour and often almost instant. If they claim you haven't paid you get in touch with your bank to get the payment reversed.  But, agree, pay deposit by credit card and then you have some cover.
