The Mighty Honda Fails - leehenty - 01-06-2020 Brother rides a Honda Crosstourer 1200. The centre stand is held in with a steel tube through cast alloy lugs on the rear of the engine. It seized in place so he had to cut tube to get stand off. Then the oh dear session started. Access is tight so to get the bits of tube out of the lugs an extraction tool was needed. Big Brov' engineering got the job. Glad to know it's not only Yamaha who make mistakes in design. The Mighty Honda Fails - Studley Ramrod - 01-06-2020 Good job Lee. You going to replace the steel tube with an alloy one ? The Mighty Honda Fails - Matlock - 01-06-2020 Oh dear, I'd better check my Crosstourer :good: The Mighty Honda Fails - dablik - 01-06-2020 Good job your not riding one eh Lee ![]() The Mighty Honda Fails - leehenty - 01-06-2020 Replaced with a solid Shaft of A4-80 with bolts on the end. It's an odd size 18.80mm. I made a stainless plate to match the old one which stops shaft turning in the alloy lug. The Mighty Honda Fails - leehenty - 01-06-2020 If that tube isn't free it's mega ball ache to remove it. The Mighty Honda Fails - leehenty - 01-06-2020 This is the carbuncle The Mighty Honda Fails - Matlock - 04-06-2020 I'll take a look at mine this weekend, thanks Lee :good: The Mighty Honda Fails - leehenty - 05-06-2020 Just undo the small bolted Spring hanger securing the arm on the end, check the tube can rotate. |
