Travel And Breakdown Insurance - chrisr - 14-10-2024 Can anyone recommend a company (or companies) for European cover for breakdowns for my ageing though well preserved bike (2013) and travel insurance including riding said bike for my ageing and not so well preserved body. Seems that they are wanting stupid money or dont want to know. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - Trevini - 14-10-2024 I donât know if you still can, but you could get euro cover from the ADAC group. Although primarily German, theyâd provide full euro cover. However, age and value of bike will likely be an issue as pretty much without exception, the limit on repatriation will be the value of the bike if the breakdown requires it.  No idea with the travel insurance as I havenât been over on the bike for several years. The only suggestion I can make is to try Adrian Flux. A lot of our RoSPA lot are a: old and b: head off to Europe on a regular basis and often mention Adrian Flux. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - chrisr - 14-10-2024 Thanks, Trev. I'll give them a try. They would not assist at all. I sorted it myself with a new chain and a few days layover. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - dapleb - 14-10-2024 As above, i thoroughly do not recommend carole. They independently lied to both me'sen and dandy about our travel insurance and where it covered...leaving us in the no mans land atwix countries. They then "lost" the evidence of the recorded calls hohohooooo. But unfortunately for them i had evidence of what was said. Soo...yeah. not carole. Also beware the small print such as "recovery to value of x% of bike value". Travel And Breakdown Insurance - dablik - 15-10-2024 Very dependant on market value of the bike Chris......Auntie Carol bought my bike home from Tignes near Val de sere in France in 2016.. the cost to them was £1600 pounds, if I were in Spain I doubt the Insurance would of covered the difference to the added cost.. The driver who returned my bike was independant and told me the cost upon enquiry. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - Jsiddle - 16-10-2024 So what happens if the insurance company decides it's not economical to bring a bike back to the UK? Do they pay anything?  For example, If my bike is worth £1500 and recovery costs come to £1499, they could bring it back, but if recovery was £1501 they would wash their hands of it and tell me that I'm on my own? Travel And Breakdown Insurance - Trevini - 16-10-2024 Pretty much as I understand it. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - dablik - 17-10-2024 I'm sure somebody in the Classic bike/motor sector would have up to date info, plenty of them travelling in foreign climes... or else van the bikes over to your starting point !? I never had any issues when I had classic insurance on the Maserati. That also included agreed value, so maybe that also made a difference as there's certainly a difference in the value between that and my 900 for example. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - chrisr - 20-10-2024 And how about travel insurance for actually riding a 900 abroad? I thought I had arranged it then the company (Staysure) phoned me and said I was only covered up to a 125. Not much use, Iâm thinking of the matter of repatriation should something happen. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - Trevini - 21-10-2024 https://www.direct-travel.co.uk these cover motorcycle travel insurance. I haven't read the full terms and conditions, but they do offer specialist travel insurance and motorcycling in the EU with appropriate licence is covered as an add-on in the additional cover box.  https://www.bigcattravelinsurance.com/activities-cover/#1563451971801-3c0886a3-a623 Over 125cc covered if you add the activity pack. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - dablik - 21-10-2024 As Trev mentioned Chris it could be an idea to find out if the ADAC will cover you, lots of motorhomers have used or are still maybe using the service, repatriation will only get you as far as the market value of your bike whatever that is deemed to be, cant really see you having a mechanical issue though, take a spare alternator.. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - hallrob1 - 21-10-2024 The travel insurance for bikers is a minefield with many people thinking they are covered until they read the small print - even some of the staff on their call centres get it wrong. I've used explorer for the last couple of years along with my travel buddy who has diabetes so has another level of complication; https://www.explorerinsurance.co.uk/ https://www.explorerinsurance.co.uk/ Travel And Breakdown Insurance - hallrob1 - 21-10-2024 I did also use ADAC a couple of years back for breakdown cover and it included the UK with AA. They are really useful especially in Germany as they offer routes, hotel advice and other services including maps for bikers. They also run a lot of Classic car and bike shows across Germany. However setting it up with a UK address was not easy, even when we spoke to a guy on their stand at a German car show. Caravan & motorhome sites had the most information about using them as it was a popular option for them. Travel And Breakdown Insurance - Rallyist - 22-10-2024 I think ADAC have withdrawn new membership following Brexit existing members got a continuation. I may be wrong but thats how I understand it. :good: :good: |
