I was working on an ABS bike and noticed corrosion in the back plate holding the ABS sensor. It's white crusty alloy corrosion,which will seize the sensor in there, eventually crushing it and destroying the sensor coil. New ones are £114 if you can get them. So a yearly removal and a thin coating of ACF50 grease might save you a few quid.

Tried to get mine out a while ago as my rear wheel occasionally locks up. Not shifting. How does that sensor cope with light persuasion from a rubber mallet after generous soaking?

I had the same problem on my previous 900 so after getting old one out eased the hole out a little so plenty of clearance for sensor, slipped a bit of heat shrink over the sensor slipped a very thin o ring over it along with a covering of acf50 grease and reinstalled.  These sensors need checking on a regular basis to ensure no corrosion from the ally casting it is fitted to. :good:

  so you reamed the hole (i'm resisting here guys) slightly bigger and took up the clearance using the heat shrink and the O ring to help keep moisture out?

Use a proper adjustable reamer, file is for rough edges
