Norfolk Revisited - peter-may - 16-07-2020 Planning to return from whence I came, for just a day or two next week. Staying around Thetford and riding the coast next day. Anybody got any up to date advice on what to see and what to avoid? Probably extend to visit old stomping grounds in Norwich too, but time may be tight. Got to do the Acle straight one more time!! Norfolk Revisited - Catteeclan - 16-07-2020 Which coast roads you thinking Captain? I'm working full time and often after hours but if you're within reach one evening it'd be nice to say hello. Avoid the Acle straight at rush times, total ball ache. Norfolk Revisited - peter-may - 16-07-2020 No firm plan yet as to route, but the 2 fellas I'll be with have never been in the area and are talking about Kings Lynn to Gt Yarmouth, visiting a much of coastal towns as possible. Love to be able to meet up, but a promise now would be unrealistic, but you never know. I'm duty bound to go to Norwich cemetery, so time will be short, unless we have an "unexpected delay Either way, I'm sure there'll be huge changes since I left in (was it really) 1979!!. Norfolk Revisited - Snowbird - 16-07-2020 If you head back from GY to norwich on the south side of the river the ferryhouse at surlingham is well worth a stop for refreshments, nice garden by the river and good food. I spend many a weekend there. Norfolk Revisited - peter-may - 16-07-2020 Used to fish at Bramerton. Surlingham rings a bell, a ferry?? Bennetts abbey and there was a little mooring place somewhere around Trowse. Thanks for the heads up. EDIT.Just googled the mooring..Rockland St Mary...anything there?? Norfolk Revisited - Snowbird - 17-07-2020 Rockland has a pub but don't know if it's open, it's not too scenic as it's off the main broad. You missed the last ferry by about 60 years, reedham still has running chain ferry. I'll be at the ferryhouse all this weekend but on boat not bike. |
