Members of the travelling fraternity nicked neighbours motorhome by using a Tibble gauge and making a key. Then they accessed obd port and coded a new key to ECU. Off it went to their camp only to be apprehended by the law enroute as it had a Lee H el cheapo £30 tracker fitted. Very sophisticated gear was used to pinch it.

So ya all get to locking yer stuff up.

The oiks caught were all under 16, so no hope of jail or hanging.

Hope they didn't booger it oop too much in the process.

How do I make Juan of them there el cheapo trackers LH?

What's the point of having a coded key if it's that easy?

Does that mean that all the stuff about needing the red-head key to make a new key is nonsense, and a lost one can be got round by this method?

Well done, Lee. I hope you got some good cake out of that from neighbour.

Really nice to see that the youngsters have sound hobbies instead of just sitting at home playing computer games or watching Netflix  Lol

Bunch of caravans stored at the farm behind me was stolen. They drove across fields, hitched them up and drove off out of some 'newly made' fence opening.  Never seen again.

It's called a TKStar 806, Amazon £30 plus a Giffgaff card for data etc. I got one fitted to TDM too

Apparently any keyless car is even easier to pinch. The gonuo up to your house, scan the key via radio and play back to car, off they go.

Steel pedal boxes and steering wheel locked covers slow them down as does locking OBD port in metal box.
If you fit a tracker to your bike, it sends speed position and time to a server every 30 secs, whilst bike is moving.

Keep in mind if you like using the fun control hard.

Motorhome Thieves - Apache - 16-02-2021

Aye, they log just about everything.....plod might interrogate server records if accident is speed related.....there are speed modules available to isolate a component over a pre set speed....

I've seen a few people suggest disconnecting the ODB port and wiring up a different port in a hidden location.  I think I'd then want to try and wire up the original port to a high voltage to try and knacker their computer.

Motorhome Thieves - Robodene - 17-02-2021

I keep my car key in a box wrapped in aluminium foil. (A Faraday cage or something or other).  I had hoped this might have added difficulty for the crims, but maybe not at all...

Motorhome Thieves - Rallyist - 17-02-2021

Put your keys in an old biscuit tin or some such but put the lid on then radio signal will be unreadable, Faraday Cage

That was a good read. Thanks, Rallyist. Seems my method is ok.

Motorhome Thieves - wicklamulla - 18-02-2021

bet it was a transit based motorhome.  Tibbe key theft via OBD is a well known problem.

Motorhome Thieves - catsbum - 18-02-2021

Here in Berkshire UK there are dozens of cars vans, all sorts removed from driveways.

I don't even lock my car at home as nothing much in there.

But I do use this. Over 20 years old and it's going nowhere.

I use one of those fully enclose Disklok things and have obd ports in a steel box.

i wonder if you could have a discreet OBD and a dummy one connected to battery/booster and fry their equipment?

Aye, but you would need to warn anyone doing any servicing on your vehicle, or stand for a very big damages claim!!
