Import Duties - alanfavell - 14-04-2021 Top Sellerie seat arrived today.  £58 + change in VAT n duties  Nearly cheaper collecting from Portugal FFS  Import Duties - ChrisG - 14-04-2021 They should have been able to send it without charging Portuguese VAT, as you pay the UK VAT worth checking with them maybe? Although a big chunk of it is usually the couriers admin charges for sorting it out. Import Duties - alanfavell - 14-04-2021 No VAT from Portugal/EU side just Greedy British Politicians Import Duties - Gdog - 15-04-2021 I have five OEM suppliers of spares in Europe and with each order I place I get an email from the courier company to pay on average £50 in import duties before theyll deliver the consignment, this comes out of my budget, doh !! Brexit Leavers thanks ! Import Duties - dapleb - 15-04-2021 Get a lot of stuff from the merkins. With postage cost + import duty + "handling fee" (well how else ya gonna deliver it), you can basically take the dollar price, double it..and then replace the $ sign with £ sign and it's aboot right. If it comes via their postal service rather than courier often the "handling fee" can be avoided and sometimes also the customs charge. One supplier has started paying all that sheet before they send and seem to be absorbing the cost!!!! So I can order onlion now and all the fees, customs etc etc are already paid by them. For Euro land... Mayhaps we need a euro correspondent or as favs says just go n gerrit. Import Duties - drewpy - 15-04-2021 i buy stuff from deporvillage in spain and so far not paid any duty.  got some filters for the cars' from germany and its taking ages to come. Bet they are holding them because some other didn't complete the correct paperwork Import Duties - Norwegian - 15-04-2021 This has been our reality forever, except it got even worse last year when the last little loophole got closed - we could get small parcels worth £25 or less (incl P&P!) VAT-free. No more. So prices generally double before delivery. Import Duties - ChrisG - 15-04-2021 Quote:For Euro land... Today it's $1.38 Import Duties - ramotdm - 15-04-2021 Second hand has nothing to do with it never has,  I find it a bit hit and miss, used to sometimes dodge charges from USA, now always have to pay never paid anything from China or Japan, Europe you have to pay but not from Louis, they sort that prices will stay high in the UK, no discounts now UK suppliers have us locked in with european prices no longer cheaper, It must be affecting the EU suppliers, lots of them no longer deliver to the UK when you add items to yours basket, knocks you back Import Duties - fixitsan - 16-04-2021 Quote:Second hand has nothing to do with it never has,  Well in that case, no duties from Israel ! (this time) Import Duties - ramotdm - 16-04-2021 Quote:  Jobs a good en then :good: :drinks: Import Duties - bjorge - 17-04-2021 Quote:This has been our reality forever, except it got even worse last year when the last little loophole got closed - we could get small parcels worth £25 or less (incl P&P!) Wemoto, ebay and Aliexpress all use it, meaning no handling fees + no purchaser country VAT. Really nice ð It's VOEC Import Duties - fixitsan - 17-04-2021 Quote:What we've got lately is a VAT payment service for foreign webshops. Wemoto, ebay and Aliexpress all use it, meaning no handling fees + no purchaser country VAT. Really nice   Apparently it started in April 2020 ? Prior to that, was there any VAT on low value items ? I think I probably know the answer, because I can't recall many times when VAT obligations were removed.  Death and taxes, as they say   QUOTE VAT On E-Commerce - VOEC As a foreign provider of electronic services to Norwegian consumers (B2C), you're obliged to collect and pay VAT to Norwegian tax authorities. Foreign sellers and online marketplaces must also from 1 April 2020 register, declare and pay VAT on low value goods (below NOK 3,000) sales to Norwegian consumers (B2C). Foreign sellers and marketplaces that are registered in the VOEC scheme already can use their current registration to report and pay VAT on low value goods. If you only sell electronic services and are registered in the VOES register, you do not need to take any further action. Import Duties - bjorge - 17-04-2021 Seems about rightð Personally I like this arrangement better and it also hasn't got the side effect of killing norwegian shops that the old regime had (<30EUR no VAT). The last parcel from Wemoto came with a bill - thay had missed the VOEC label :punishment: Seems like I'll get my â¬30 back, though, probably a reward for having the mental strength to deal with the moron customer service chatbot ![]() |
