From a purely selfish point of view, any time in July from Saturday 6th works for me.

Ferries are silly prices during July and August. TeDeum and the Lovely Mrs TeDeum tend to go away from September 1st when the roads are clearer, the ferries cheaper and the accommodation and restaurant owners are happy to see customers. The weather tends to be OK on the continent then too. So, June or September are the sensible months but usually we have the RTT in July.
