That exact scenario has always been in my thoughts when riding around the same area,its a mainly flat agricultural area with drainage ditches running alongside most the very twisty roads.
Nice to ride but dangerous if misjudged.
Lucky man indeed.

This is a great case for the use of something like "Lookout" on your smartfone

It means that someone needs to have access via the internet and would be able to check on your location at any time, and if you are happy with that, then basically it means your phone becomes a "tracker" and can pinpoint it's location on request

It's free and can be found at Lookout

I have it on mine, but my wife does not have the passwords, but she also has it on hers (I added it as its good security) but I don't know if she is aware that I have the passwords so can find her phone if it's ever stolen on lost
