Does anyone us heated socks? and if so do you wear ordinary socks over them?

By the way, since I sold my TDM to Beerbelly so that I could buy a Yamaha XVS1300 I've also picked up a 2004 FJR1300A and I don't have the words to tell you just how smooth and powerful it is!

I bought some of the cheap heated socks from Ebay £10 (heating element in toes only). They operate from 2 AA batteries and are ;
  • Crap fit

  • Not hot enough

So - I bought 2x 3AA battery holders and altered the socks to ft somewhat better. Replaced the 2AA pack with 3AA unit & connected these instead. Extra voltage has given sufficient heat in toes for a winter 300 miles trip and the extra capacity gives the necessary endurance.

One needs to wear them with summer socks underneath - oh and I wired the packs in parallel with a remote switch.

Not tried them but as an alternative idea, I quite like the idea of heated insoles, as they just stay in the boot so probably less hassle than socks

Bulldog

I use gerbing heated gloves and insoles and they are bloody fantastic, the insoles get left in the boots. I didn't think socks would be a good idea as wearing them for a few hours on the bike means I get there with sweaty smelly feet!

Remote is near pillion footpeg hanger. I can't remember what that one is for. I didn't go for that option.

The black thing close to the rear brake lever is the rear shock reservoir. The remote controller is just in front of the rhs pannier by the footrest.

Electric socks worked well early this morning as they cover the whole foot and not just the bottom (of the foot) as insoles do.

that remote knob could be hydraulic preload, if it's a Wilburs setup.
