It's the 4th(independence day) here in the states. It was hot, and I was bored. Brought the redhead inside(living room) and pulled the front end off the old girl.

Found the issue I previously posted about, among other things. 😃

Mo money, mo money. Well, ya gotta pay to play. 🤐 I love this stuff. 😎 Pd Gabe in vegas. Happy 4th everyone.

Good morning people,

I have a question

Is there someone who knows how to modify  the fuel pressure regulator on a TDM 900

to get more pressure

I did some reading about this on other motorcycles.

Have a nice day

Greetings, Frits from Holland

Frits, i think I may have mentioned this mod previously with you.

It is quite crude, it is a complete enrichment of AFR all across the rev range, at all loads.

It is better for an engine to run too rich than too lean, but, if it runs rich constantly then the fine film of lubrication at the piston rings gets washed away and you get increased wear.

The ideal situation is to have fuel enrichment when under load, during acceleration, but during straight and level flight you have no gains, and possible problems, by running consistently rich at a constant speed.

EDIT- [I think I saw a fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail, which means that if you do increase fuel pressure, then the sensor (if present) will detect the high level and tell the ECU to adjust the injector timing duration to compensate (most ECU's do this).....Is there a pressure sensor ?]    - I just checked the service manual, no pressure sensor

You can get adjustable regulators, at least it keeps your standard one intact... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-SILVER-FUEL-PRESSURE-REGULATOR-WITH-GAUGE-140-PSI-ADJUSTABLE-UK-STOCK-/152003486389?hash=item23641d22b5:g:FbIAAOSw3mpXNEhk

I used to assemble cheat boxes for diesel cars with common rail fuel systems and variable pressure regulators, to detect acceleration demand, which boosted fuel pressure. I suppose you could run two regulators in parallel, one switched through a solenoid such that when the intake vacuum drops (hard acceleration demand) the second regulator set for a higher pressure is used.......but after all that, is it going to be worth it ? - The ECU is already programmed to enrich the mixture under acceleration, like carbs having an acceleration fuel pump,...I don't think you will feel much of a difference between an air fuel ration of 13:1 more than 14:1  ...... The best tuning method is a replacement ECU or tuning the existing one, in my opinion

fixitsan Thanks for the answer,

No I did not ask you this before about the fuel pressure regulator. ( better fuel injectors)

The only thing the I can do is to put more pressure on the inside spring.( low pressure 294 kPa )

I told you of the guy who is tuning his bike thats why I am asking this.

He is searching for ways  to tune his bike.

I am going to look into this, and I want to help maybe I can learn from this to.

Again thanks.

S'funny i remember saying something about the fpr to somebody here...... and having thought some more, as long as you keep the o2 sensor in circuit then the ECU should trim the AFR during cruise conditions and still allow good mpg. The high pressure would affect the bike when the ECU is in open-loop control, during acceleration, because the O2 is ignored then. Also during cold start conditions the afr could become very rich, but without testing it out first who can say if it is unacceptable or not

284 motorway miles in the DRY + bonus of 5 miles of filtering on M25 to be first away when plod released the road AND the M3 was free flowing. Pinch me I must be dreaming.

Fitted a high level brake lamp to the topbox this morning before setting off south. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Red-F1-Style-LED-Car-Brake-Reverse-Lamp-Vehicle-Warning-Flash-Light-12V-UK-O4M1-/201554207144?hash=item2eed9121a8:g:SiUAAOSwiylW~1BR

Began removing parts from the mk1 prior to engine removal. Discovered a crappy crimp lug on the end of the battery -ve wire which pulled out with no trouble. So thats a fault fixed for free ![attachment=o8385]

Finally did a test ride after valve adjustment/throttle balancing. Murdered at least 20 billion insects on the way. Running noticeably better but Snott oiler needs more fiddling.
