What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 26-06-2016 Quote:That I don't know unfortunately. I used a TRX third gear, straight swap over to my mk2a 8fiddly. You might find your answer by looking up the parts numbers of the 1st gear/axles. Okay thanks.  I've looked at a couple of parts lists, but can't see if I would need the 4tx shift drum and arms together with the gearsets, or could I swap simply the 2 gearsets from the mk2 to the mk1 ? What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 26-06-2016 Quote:  I've confirmed the part numbers are different......... I'll see what I can find. There's a set of 4tx gears available, but no shift cam/forks...  or i can see a set of mk1 gears with shift cam and forks. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Studley Ramrod - 26-06-2016 Looking at Fowlers, the shift cam and forks are identical. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 26-06-2016 Quote:Looking at Fowlers, the shift cam and forks are identical.  I found a 3VDxxxxx part number for a 1991 3VD shift cam, and 4TXxxxx part number for a mk2.  They could be the same I suppose, I might just go for it.... What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - davytdm - 26-06-2016 Stripped it ready for powder coat new bearings everywhere brake lines God why do I start these things What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Studley Ramrod - 26-06-2016 Quote: I dunno where you got them numbers but have a look here  https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/4085161/tdm850-3vd1-1991-999-a/shift-cam-fork What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 26-06-2016 Dead right Studley....digging deeper into the parts list i used it states the 4tx part number is the replacement. Thanks again   > http://www.cmsnl.com/products/yamaha-tdm850-1991-3vd1_3vd1854001/#.V3BIrxLLImw What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 26-06-2016 Quote:Dead right Studley....digging deeper into the parts list i used it states the 4tx part number is the replacement. Thanks again  And i just bagged both 4tx gearsets for £47.50 in good condition What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - alanfavell - 28-06-2016 Bought it new tyres, (not fitted yet), and cursed it for developing the cold pull away clutch squeal. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - arthurbikemad - 28-06-2016 Hate that clutch squeal! Sigma, if it keeps doing it mine is getting the slipper haha What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 30-06-2016 Slackened the nuts holding the exhaust headers in on the mk1, fully expecting them to be seized....I was only dipping my toe into the idea of getting started on replacing the gearsets and wondered how hard the headers were going to be, but the nuts came off pretty easily.  The engine cases have a lot of stainless allen bolts so that could work out nicely.  Pretty sure I'll be keeping the mk1 and selling the 9er, once it's all back together. I have loved the 9 but the 850 does almost the same.  I just hope I can stop 'restoration creep habits' at bay...the frame is badly brush painted and a powder coat would look awesome........ ![]() What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Catteeclan - 30-06-2016 If you're keeping it why not. Do you have to sell the 900 now? What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - muddy - 30-06-2016 Quote:If you're keeping it why not. Do you have to sell the 900 now? While you're here, how are those individual air filters working for you? What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 30-06-2016 Quote:If you're keeping it why not. Do you have to sell the 900 now?  I don't have to, but i could do with the cash and the space. Daughter got her CBT booked for middle of August, no doubt dad will be finding a 125 to fit the 900 sized space ![]()  Having said that I will miss the 900's refinement....I dunno, I'll decide after getting the mk1 sorted What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - adamg - 30-06-2016 Fixitsan, you'll end up doing the lot: all bearings, brakes, c&s, tyres, carbs, fluids, filters, valves, cam chain tensioner, reg/rec, battery, spark plugs... It's just the way it is. It's just the way it is. I know. ......the engine has a new camchain and tensioner so I'm ahead already
What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Catteeclan - 01-07-2016 Quote:While you're here, how are those individual air filters working for you? It's a little better but nothing to shout about. There's a mid range boast but still glitchy in the lower revs. I can hear the intake noise when I gun it too, even over your old exhausts. CO set to 50/55 on the dash, that = 6% CO2 at idle. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - bjorge - 01-07-2016 Lubed the master pump - that is, the spot where the lever pushes the piston rod. Dry surface made the brake feel sticky, sorted with a dash of sticky chain lube ![]() EDIT: ...and talked to a young car painter about getting the old cow refurbished. Waiting for an estimate :pimp: What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - JMC - 01-07-2016 Fitted an extenda fender to front mudguard and crash mushrooms, have ordered wind deflectors so when they arrive I'll post up a few pics ![]() Also got an oxford x30 tailpack for day trips. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - davytdm - 03-07-2016 today putting new bearings in swingarm , wheels end headstock all back from powdercoat cant wait to get it all together again |
