I'm sure your nuts will get a lot of attention. Very impressive. And so beautifully photographed.

Went for a spin around Orkney mainland but headed back early due to sideways rain !

Got home after 5.5hours.... total mileage since yesterday morning of 690 miles. The TDM has been absolutely without fault (and it's now coming up to 94000 miles). i was also convinced that advancing the timing 4 degrees has really helped with  low end performance.

I need to play about with the handlebars some more because my hands/wrists ached, but not sure how much of that was due to the cold and wet.

Might get another seat, or at least a gel seat pad, my hips ache a bit now !

The bike drew a few comments on the boat...a couple of crew said 'nice bike mate', and a couple of guys came up to me on different occasions saying ' I always wanted to get a TDM but just never did....'  - I put them right and told them it was their loss !

You need Renthal 755s, problem sorted!

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Denystan69 - 01-04-2016

I have the Renthal 758's (Ultra Low) fitted. Much happier taking bends and wrists and fingers seen fine so far.

Motorway ride tomorrow, West Wales to Wokingham, will find the real level of comfort then!!

Lovely quiet roads. What's your camera and where is it mounted?

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 02-04-2016

It's a Drift Ghost HD, Kelpie. I use the Drift stick-on mount to fix it  to the right fairing.

I've got some footage to share later (once I've edited down) which I recorded in the stormy conditions yesterday. the camera is completely waterproof and did a great job.

The neat thing is that the front lens rotates, so whichever way up you mount it you can spin the lens to set the output straight again

I just wish I'ld thought to wipe the lens before heading down Berriedale, but the lens had at least 100 miles of wet A-road muck on it.  Oh, well it's just an excuse to do it again on another day !

Kelpie, the Drift Stealth 2 does virtually the same and is only £100 now. Battery life is 3 hours, but to make it so small they ditched the full colour screen used for reviewing videos. I never use it for that anyway, and am tempted to buy the Stealth 2 too. The fact that they're already waterproof and ready to go is what attracts me..... GoPro wotnot's are quite possibly better in final quality, but you can get very close for not much money.

I used it in 'Car DVR mode, which is good as an accident cam...it just keeps deleting the oldest vids and replaces them with the latest, in a circular buffer. A 32GB memory card gives about 5 hours without any deleting happeing (at the highest quality)....at lower quality 720P (still HD)  a 32GB card can go for longer.

It came with a remote control too, so you can stop/start recording whenever you want and also take still images whenever you like. I don't think the remote is standard with a Stealth 2, it costs about £20 extra, but without it you can still stop/start and take stills by using the case buttons

What i wish they had is 'image stabilisation' because when fitted to my helmet the camera moves with my head, up and down, and makes annoying footage. I need to run it through a video editor and add image stabilisation afterwards. but fixed to the fairing in the above fairing it seemed to be much better.

Having some video editing software is really useful, even Windows 'Movie Maker', which is a freebie, is more than enough to  get the job done. Bear in mind that 5 minutes at 1080P (high definition) uses about 250MB of disc space !

Today was a major wheel swap day. Went to my tyre shop early with paul Bought a new PR3 for my tdm and a PR4 for the Super ten. An a set of summer rubber for the wife's car. Changed all cars' wheels and put the rear wheels in the bikes. Planned to go out for a ride with the wife and Paul tomorrow. Then we saw it: the rim of the Super Ten is cracked. Damnation!

Perhaps we will take the ride on the TDM and my XT tomorrow. We'll see.

Cheers Fixit. I have an old Oregon something or other with lousy battery life that I don't use anymore. I bought BSM the GoPro 4 for his birthday last year and ended up replacing our feeble laptop with a Mac to cope with video processing!

I could do with a decent but affordable cam on my bike. A BMW hatch diver very nearly (deliberately) took me out half a mile from home yesterday. It was totally unprovoked and particularly malicious. It left me pretty shaken and very angry. Sadly, we had no cams on board and BSM was two cars back and missed it. I just hope when the passenger looked into my eyes, they reported to the driver that he'd tried to injure someone's grandma.

We deal with careless and incompetent drivers on a daily basis but it's very rare for us to have near misses. I'd like to think our observation skills help keep those incidents to the bare minimum. Sadly there's little that can be done about a small number of mentally deranged and psychotic drivers, but video footage may have been useful.

Today I shall mostly be taking my TDM out and giving it a bl**dy good thrashing........sorry, I meant making progress.

Also researching intercoms at the mo.

Nice video Fixitsan. Smile

Kelpie, Glad you're still here and lived to tell the tale. I agree that our best protection is our own skills to predict situations and to give ourselves room to manouvre

Tthe car one I had was like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HD-720p-LCD-DV-Camera-Car-Recorder-DVR-Dual-Lens-Night-Vision-Wide-Angle-EA-PIP/291708584836?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3Df2f8cbd4e9ca4a39b60fb804417e4ed5%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D171876189610

...and it worked flawlessly and produced reasonable footage, for insurance purposes at least.....but died after a few hours behind the screen on the bike, like I knew it probably would. but cheap and cheerful and I got away with it for a while.

The best feature it had is a small button on top which when pressed, saved the last 10 seconds of footage together with the following 10 seconds, and locked it away safe from possible deletion by the system....so whenever I saw a 'magic moment' I pressed the button and started collecting clips.....not sure why though ! lol

Now, I'm looking at  installing a permanent camera and have found that someone is selling a version of the same thing I had before, only with 2 waterproof external cameras, for about £50  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MC03-Dual-Lens-Waterproof-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Dash-DVR-Recorder-Camera-720P-HD-/171876189610?hash=item28049e85aa:g:Fq8AAOSwZ1lWcTx5

The two small cameras can be installed discreetly, on the TDM, under the headlights and tailpiece, and that would probably suffice.....or have them both pointing forwards but outwards to capture great scenery. You have to keep them clean though, so I thought about spraying them with a compound they use on aircraft cockpits which causes water to bead up and run off.

From the footage I've posted you can see it is very steady because the drift Ghost fitted to the bike itself, which I found really surprising because i thought my helmet would have had the most shock protection, but reviewing helmet footage using the same camera shows my head is being constantly buffeted to the point that I'm impersonating a nodding dog at times !

I'm looking to make an installation that is small, reliable, good quality and cheap, so perhaps I'm on a hiding to nothing there, but I have a couple of camera samples coming in the post and I'll let you know how it goes.
