A pin hole in the exhaust?

Misheard the guy. A joint needed resealed presumably with a touch of fresh muflit. Plus the carbs were out of tune, and the plugs fouled. Now sounds great - that, a new dash bulb, and a general once-over for sixty quid, I was happy. Got two new BT021s at the same time. (Not included in the £60 I'm sorry to day ) Fuel consumption seems a load better than me old fuel injected beemer. 65mpg? Wasn't hanging around either today - enjoying the shovelfuls of torque on offer.

Wicky - Predator shows signs of neglect, esp the downpipes. Dose of Autosol did a good job of getting them nice and smooth but lot of bluing. Silencer still in good nick tho. As promised, some post-TLC pix for you lads 'n'lasses:

Q for you Wicky - oil level. Assume drill is to get the beast upright and try and keep 'er that way while trying to see oil window? After dealer said plugs fouled badly, not assuming maintenance been done as said now, so gonna be changing the oils soon. K&N filter - never worked with one before - think it's a renew job rather than replace.

Re the K&N (air) filter...
You are right that they don't need to be replaced. You just clean and re-oil per instructions after 75-100,000 miles.

well i always ride the bike fer 15-20 mins afore checking d'oil level, switch off d'enjun stand next to her and keep her upright like ya say and and check the level a few times over a 5 minute period, i'd be inclined the tink that putting her up on a paddock stand might give you a false reading ??? the main ting is to check the oil level every day or more so if yer on a longish rideout, better to be safe....etc. WiCkY

Cheers rider & Wick. All useful info! Haynes says oil filter changed every second service - thats a new one to me - they must be fantastic filters... then again if they're not expensive I'd be inclined to change it every time meself...

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - wicklamulla - 08-10-2007

yep i change d'oil filter ferra new one every 4k.

What's up with the smallish pictures overhere? Oh well, i've made it clickable for optimal viewing pleasure

Recently I've bought this 2006 silver/blueish tdm900a, as a replacement for my '93 honda ntv. The only modification i've done is the airboxmod; it's an mod that makes quite a difference. As for Tele (carpe member number 900 )himself; 26 year old bloke from the Netherlands who's into electronics and embedded software. Oh, and i like shooting pictures

If Fred crashes those Dinosaur horns will take his eye out, and he's got no helmet or proper protective footwear.

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Swede - 23-10-2007

Greetings ye merry ol TDM:ers!

Fredrik’s the name and I’m from the land of rain and beautiful women , Sweden. Married and a resident of the lovely city of Gothenburg. I have been looking for quite a while for a bike that might punch my ticket, Triumph Tiger, Bonneville (blame my 55 year old cousin for that one) Honda Varadero, Transalp, V-Strom 1000 and so on…but there was always something missing, build quality, warranty, how the major forum of a certain bike would be talking about their problems and so on (have you looked at the tiger 1050-forum for example? If I was really hot for a Tiger then yes, I might overlook all-those-problems people seems to have with everything from gaskets, that the engine was not correctly mounted, bolts left unscrewed, oil leaks, oil consumption, electronic malfunctions and the list goes unfortunately on and on. Pity as the Tiger seemed really nice.)

Then I took a hard long look at the TDM 900. It had ABS, It had a lovely twin, over 80 bhp, was tall enough for a guy that’s 1,93 meters, had a supple amount of goods to hang on it, good price compared to the Tiger and Varadero and let the wife arrive at the destination with a backside still round, and not flat. So, It’s going to be a TDM in the spring. I think I have read about 30-40 pages here and I still haven’t found anything major against this purchase. Great to read things like “I’m going on a trip, any one wants to come along” instead of “My poor Tigger hit a pebble and got the housing cracked and it is leaking, and the odometer won’t move, and the third cylinder has jammed and wrecked the whole interior of the bore, but hey, nothing has happened in..oh…a week before that so the bike has really shined”.

Anyway, I’m back to lurking now. Nice to see you guys have some people from the Nordic countries here as well.

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Jankers - 29-11-2007

Hello from me.

i am an old git (BAG) and am currently considering a TDM to replace the ER5 i bought to get back into biking.

Any advice on the models would be useful as i plan to get a 850 'cos i cannot afford a 900 model.

I used to bike years ago but stopped for the usual reasons (house/mortgage/children) and have finally gotten back to some form of transport so that i can visit the Model Boat exhibitions, my other hobby.

cheers for now.

J.
