Prowler - LIAW - 08-12-2025

well I got it all done, we had a break in the weather so I got it outside and took a quick picture, I am pleased with it overall apart from the frame covers which have come out darker than expected, in the shed they didn't look much darker, maybe in the near future I will try mixing a colour that is closer to the frame shade as none are available off the shelf that I have seen, they will do for now though, especially as I'll probably not get much in the way of riding done this side of Easter,

Wednesday is supposed to be a dry day so if the roads are dry and my local bike shop can fit me in I'll get it mot'd, or at least see what it needs to get one

Prowler - LIAW - 12-12-2025

thanks

well I got to the bike shop for an mot, the weather was ok and the roads were dry except one small area that was in the shadow of some trees, I went very slowly over this section and wondered why anybody would invent something so stupid as a wet road,

it passed the mot but with a couple of advisories, they were something that I was not expecting or to be truthful, even thought about, this bike has had mot's for the past two years under our son's ownership which these 'advisories' were never picked up on and luckily he stayed safe,

most people would like mot testers to be lenient with the rules so their bike stays on the road, especially regarding things like a slightly too loud exhaust or a number plate a bit too small etc., but some things are safety issues, the advisories my bike got were for 'cracking' tyre valves, I was shown this and to be honest the cracks are not visible unless you bend the tyre valve over, I didn't even notice this when I masked them up for wheel paint,

sure, these valves could go on for a long time yet but you never know, a crack that spreads and then suddenly lets the air out of your tyre while riding could be catastrophic,

I'm grateful to my local bike shop (BIKEWISE MOTORCYCLES in Abingdon) for noticing this and I'm thankful my son remained safe, I will be taking my wheels off shortly and taking them to get new valves installed,

whatever you ride I wish you all to be safe  Rockon

Agrozzle about MOT test and wet roads.

Is bikewise what used to be the Honda dealer by Tesco?

Prowler - LIAW - 12-12-2025

no that was Abingdon Honda, Bikewise is an independent shop on the other side of town, I get on well with them and have painted some bikes for them

Prowler - leehenty - 22-12-2025

Now get out there when the weather improves to enjoy it

Prowler - LIAW - 22-12-2025

I will do, just waiting for one of those reasonable days with a temperature of 22 degrees, completely dry roads with no dust, no wind and no clouds in the sky  Lol

after two hundred years of riding in all conditions over the last few decades I feel I have earned my 'fair weather biker' badge  :hide:

Prowler - dablik - 23-12-2025
