Thanks, I bought one off ebay last night but could still use one this weekend. The PO  had  some charging  problems  and had the stator and RR replaced and thought he had it cured  but he didn't. I'm not impressed  with  his mechanic at all. It  has a  brand new  battery at least. Wink Is there a list  of parts  from other  Yamahas that are  compatible with the TDM?

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Studley Ramrod - 01-11-2013

Check out the condition of the fusebox.  In particular the side where the wires enter it, they can corrode inside and cause charging problems.  A faulty/corroded starter solenoid can also cause charging problems.

I'll do the  simple things like that first for sure I finally have time to dig into it. I have the fairing off and the tank loose. I tested the across the battery with a  good  meter and  at idle it read 11.3 V. I'm going to  run the diagnostic  chart  that I found on the  forum next.. does anyone  have givi part numbers that I should look for with givi  luggage new or used?

Sounds like charging circuit failure.

If you can use photobucket or some image sharing site like that you can put in a link that will show the picture.

Look at the bottom of my post for help.

Hi everyone,

I am a retired Aussie living in Chiang Mai,  Thailand.  Soon after arriving here I bought a Kawasaki Versys,  which was great because of the twisties around here,  mountains everywhere,  great.  But a couple of weeks ago I came across a nice TDM 900 (2002,  very dark blue).  Today I became the proud owner of that bike.  I am sure that the TDM will be just at home on the twisties,  maybe even better,  who knows?  I will find out soon.

I've been lurking on this site for a couple of weeks and I think that I'll enjoy being part of the community.

cheers,

palexxxx

I'll see if I can post here a bigger version of my avatar.

Welcome to the madhouse. You will love the TDM, only thing it does not do well is turn at very low speeds, it wants to topple (so go fast).

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - triumph1300 - 19-01-2014

Evening all from Coventry!

  I'm currently riding a 1100 BMW, BUT having tried a TDM, am about to put the BM up for sale, and am having a look at a Mk 2 TDM850 this week.

In addition to the bike, I have a couple of Triumph saloons, hence the user name.

For a living, I'm a mechanical/electrical/quality/other engineer, working for Jaguar Landrover.

  Hope to see some of you around!

   Bruce

:welcome:  Triumph1300, Ivan will be happy that someone is getting rid of a beemer and replacing it with a TDM instead of the other way round, which bit of Jaguar Landrover do you work for the Jaguar bit or the Landrover bit?
