Have you thought of replacing the car you're currently storing there with something more suitable?

Summat weird going on the link there, these 2 are supposedly both the same link but open different pages for me.

Got a new 3000w inverter for work van...so the 1500w old un is a bit fried but hopefully fixable.

I tested work van set up on dehumodifrier and it worked fine.

The tent isn't rapidly reaching outside humidity so have hope that occasional dehumidifrying will help.

What have you got in there that needs looking after?  (sorry too lazy to read back, and a bit drunk...) You may be better off with a solar panel connected to a pc case fan and a bit of ducting and lashings of acf50 with the extra ventilation.

On my boat I have a small solar panel inside the glass hatch connected to a pc fan inside a mushroom vent and it's always dry inside when I get there and that is on something with it's arse sitting in a cold river, ventilation may be the key for low power options, in a naturally damp building it will likely take more moisture out than it brings in.

Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 07-10-2022

Designed for mushrooms SB so very good at staying damp. There are air snorkels through roof, if left open it makes very little difference maybe take off 5% if sunny and add 15% when not! When the industrial fans worked that link up to the snorkels the suction on that would lower humidity by 20% in 30mins on a dry day.

Larry the bampton rat had a good idea put his camper van already loaded with solar panels up to lock up wall and drilled through to his lock up. ◉‿◉

Heat up acf 50 in hot water put it in an air spray gun, bag the discs etc and off you go. Buying ACF50 in 1 gallon cans is the cheapest way.

The van test was only a brief test. I retested for longer (4mins) and the dehumidifier runs initially but then comes up with an error. I retested with diff dehumidifier and it came up with an error. Hoping that this is because new van inverter is not pure sine wave. If that's not the problem then I'm sunk before even starting a solar project.

65 is ok yeah ? :unsure2:

Not too bad but slowly working its way ooop.

Electrical dept have fixed me old van inverter so can hopefully do some testing. They are also not convinced that a solar panel and a coupla leisure batteries will get me much dehumidifryin.

If you're handy with a soldering iron it's easy to build a square to sinewave convertor, with 3 resistors and 3 capacitors. The only catch is the cost of the correctly rated power resistors and capacitors can be pretty high it's probably not worth it unless you buy secondhand components, but 'quality issues'

Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 23-10-2022

The old inverter that is now fixed is pure sine wave so that should be ok..at least for test.

Elec dept have lots of crapassitors and things though so I will pass on info ta. Might mean I can then utilise the van as a generator every now and then. ◉‿◉

She wouldn't mind at all. We already discussed hanging a hodaka off a beam in there. (‿)

Leisure battery on the way.

Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 02-11-2022

New leisure battery arrived. Ran dehumidifier for 36mins before running out of juice and lowered hum from 73% to 61%. So there is some hope here.

Carcoon Or Similar - ChrisG - 03-11-2022

Can you rig a solar panel or wind turbine on the roof to top it up, and some kind of switch to run the dehumidifier when the battery is between certain voltages?

Carcoon Or Similar - Snowbird - 03-11-2022

Voltage sensing relays are freely available, I have one on my boat I can run a spare fridge (beer) when engines are running or shore power plugged in but not killing batteries when off grid and not running, I think I set it to about 13.6V on and 13.0V off, switches up to 140A if memory serves me right, they make a very cheap split charging setup for campers and the like.

Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 03-11-2022

Yeah summat loike dat cwis. Leafing inverter permanently on will drain battery a bit bit hopefully not too much.

Do you have a linky dink please SB?
