What did I do to my TDM today? I managed to drop her in the garage. Just putting it on the paddock stand, I've done it dozens of times, but not while wearing my reading glasses!  TWAT!   Missed the hook and the bike dropped onto the ramp. Now looking for a replacement rh side fairing. Knocked both the lugs off and deep scratches on the paintwork.  Aw Bugger!

Fowlers quoted £179 for a replacement.  Any bright ideas?

I've just done a screenshot of what to do but I cant upload the feckin pic cos its too big (Never had that problem before...Ahem Tongue )

Basically get on the site you want to copy the link from, and look at the top of the screen where it has the web address! you'll see this when your on here ( http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/index.php? )

Now move your cursor onto web address and left click and it will highlight the web address Blue, then right click and select copy, then you come on here and put your cursor on the little icon at the top, second row, half way in, it should come up with a prompt saying link, left click on it and when the box comes the cursor should be flashing on the bottom line, right click, then select paste, left click then OK and it'll appear in your post :good:

http://www.as3performance.co.uk/search.php?search_query=tdm+900&x=0&y=0 There you go Jono...I hope!

Wow! Cheers Jono. Confusedignthankspin:

Oh and BTW, If you go on E-bay you can buy them from the exact same seller for less. They're on "Make an offer" and they accepted £32.50 from me. So don't pay £42.99 if you want some!

I felt mine up. I can't ride it because not only was I working but the left side engine cover is off waiting for the new generator stator (Got a BMW F650 one coming for tomorrow)....so I could only feel it up a bit, the clutch is nice and smooth, after pulling a new cable through the orifices which retain it.

And the best bit is after removing the nipple clamps.....errr.... I mean the charger crocodile clips, after being on a long slow charge overnight the battery voltage  sits above 13.2V so it looks like it survived the generator failure.

The F650 stator winding is 95% science and 5% guesswork. It has the same dimensions as the standard TDM900 one but is not quite as deep. Many bikes have 115mm OD x 54mm ID stator cores and all that really changes is the depth of the laminations, measured through the mounting holes. The TDM900 is a very peculiar offering, being the only one with 26.5mm depth. There are replacements at 24mm, 25mm and 28mm depth.  I think the 28mm stators create a small risk of the fixing bolts fouling the inside of the flywheel/magnet rotor (there's 3 panhead screws sitting proud in there)...... so the BMW F650 (or Pegaso) stator at 24mm should fit with ease.

A Honda Firestorm stator is 115 x 54 x 25mm, and I happen to have won one of those on ebay for £19.....purely for research.

They're all 18 pole ( 6 pole x 3 phases ), wound the same manner (3CW then 3CCW) and I think the BMW stator is most likely to be tuned for peak voltage at lower rpm's than the Honda Firestorm, I've checked the regulator ratings for both those bikes and the butch regulator in the TDM900 (Also later R1's use the same device) seems well up to the job.

More touching up and experimenting tomorrow Wink

Thanks Jono.hope it helps

And the other thing i did was call a dealer to check all my recalls were done ☺

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 30-12-2015

Fitted the F650 stator.... described here http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/index.php?showtopic=32601

Also inspected the rear shock linkage........ hahaha, the middle bush (connecting dogbone mounts) is battered to death  !

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 30-12-2015

Bought a good condition relay arm....convinced that my battered one might be tough to repair,

Postage cost twice the price of the item, lol, The seller reckons it's ready to go (after being greased and having dustcaps applied) ...from an ex-police bike so it should be in good condition, maybe, possibly, hopefully......

Added a sticker

A Question for the panel:

Would one of those little red stickers hold to the frame?

I was thinking somewhere discrete like.

I put my Carpe-tdm.net sticker here .....

I discovered a small water leak from the thermostat housing gasket.. Need to find an o-ring that size....

Also reassembled and cleaned it after playing with the stator.

It should. My Givi sticker has been thereabouts (well, on the other side) for well over a year. Clean the frame well beforehand - I think I used contact cleaner - to remove any polish.
