>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Snigdog - 01-06-2013 Welcome....er.....Seamus? >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - dablik - 01-06-2013 Where's me choccy cake Richard........... and welcome to the forum,,, a yella mk1... pic's please.. or mayhaps its a 97 mk2.. >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Robodene - 01-06-2013 Welcome to da home of great wisdom. >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - jayninja - 12-06-2013 Hi all, I'm looking to buy a TDM 900 as a second bike to do some touring on. I currently have a SV1000N and love V Twins. I have my eye on a mint condition 03 model with 30k miles on it. Seller is asking £2.2 so it seems like a good price. My advice for a new buyer ? >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - moggy - 30-06-2013 Hi Guys, I suppose a little background info is in order. The name's Darryl, a young 41 and been riding for 30 years (off road) only 10 years on the road. Had a 96 TDM 850 and was a member of this forum in '07 but a peugeot 306 did a u turn infront of me, trashed the bike and didn't do me any favours either (photos of my kneecap available on request lol). Since then I have had numerous bikes between 600 and 1400cc but they just didn't do it for me, I needed another TDM and after much searching I found a very nice imported '99 model with only 6500 miles on the clock. I'm sure I'll be asking too many questions in the next few weeks so please be patient with me. >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Studley Ramrod - 30-06-2013 :welcome: to da club ! >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - dablik - 01-07-2013 Hi Darryl, bike looks in lovely condition, think that exhausts suits as well. >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - moggy - 01-07-2013 Thankyou Studley for the welcome and I assume you removed the duplicate post I did :good: Dablik the bike was in lovely condition until I dropped it backing down my drive, damage will be in another post but only cosmetic. As for the exhaust it sounds better than it looks but after seeing the photo I have to get some stainless headers to make it look right (ordering as soon as I've finished this post). >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - dablik - 01-07-2013 Oh would'nt worry too much about dropping it m8, i do it at least once a week ![]() Give the headers a polish and save a few pounds. >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - moggy - 03-07-2013 Quote:Oh would'nt worry too much about dropping it m8, i do it at least once a week No, no, no polishing those things up sounds like far too much hard work, nice shiny new ones fitted this evening ![]() >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Rallyist - 04-07-2013 If you bought stainless you will be upset within a month as they go a deep straw colour and give the appearance of going rusty. :rotflmmfao: :hide: >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Studley Ramrod - 04-07-2013 And then we all die. Moggy, the headers will still look a lot better even after they've bronzed. ![]() Bronzed headers will suit the bikes' colour scheme. :good: >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - moggy - 04-07-2013 Yes Studley, you're right about the bronzing and I'm counting on it as they don't look part of the bike yet. Hey Rallyist if you want to inspect them I'll be at the MAG heart of England Rally this weekend. Kings Norton Rugby Club Hopwood Park, Ash Lane, B48 7BB ![]() reason for edit : needed a smilie! >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Wildbill - 21-07-2013 Hi all; new member here. As customary on all good forums, an introduction is polite before posting in other sections I presume. Anyhow; I saw some old footage of a TDM being chucked about on a twisty road some time last winter. Was quite impressed at the time,it looked interesting, so started pricing them up. Even in December the prices seemed above what I was prepared to pay. Idea abandoned ! Fast forward to last week; Whilst picking up some items from a local engineering/fabrication/motorcycle repair shop I saw an old and tatty 850 Mk.1 lying outside and was told it had just been sold. Got a message 3 days later;buyer had pulled out,did I want it circa £350 ? So here I am.! Picked up on Friday, got it running Sat. morning, took stock of the state of it and started with the "to do list" and commenced stripdown. It came with some usable spares but quite a bit is missing/junk or to be upgraded on the bike itself. Thats about it;do you do build threads and like pics. on here ? ![]() >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Studley Ramrod - 21-07-2013 :welcome: to da club Bill ! We like pics and cake. :cake eating: We also like build threads and you're more than welcome to indulge us in your project. You might find the standard membership a bit restrictive when it comes to posting pics or creating a blog but that can easily be remedied by becoming a supporting member which allows you access to full use of the blog and gallery areas and also allows for many more pics to be uploaded. >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Gdog - 21-07-2013 Hi there wildbill, looks like you have a good starting point for a rebuild. Just an idea but what about doing one of those "street.fighter" things the sports bike riders do when they smash the bejezzus out of the front fairing and side plastics, that could be interesting and possibly a whole lot cheaper and deffo less hassle !!!! >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Wildbill - 23-07-2013 Thanks for the welcome. Most of the plastics are with it,just not fitted. They have extensive damage but i am a Q-Bond fan ! I try to keep the sportsbikes shiny side up; ![]() Cake is the common denominator on all forums ! . >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - TDMick - 23-07-2013 mmmm Shiny >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - wicklamulla - 23-07-2013 welcome WildBill, don't supose ya got an OWO1 in ya garage huh ? >>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Wildbill - 24-07-2013 No,the closest I have is a YZF 750 (its successor) engine in a Fzr 400 SP 2TK chassis. Its wanting a bellypan delivered and then a little paint. Still at the nearly finished stage.; ![]() |
