Bikes needed is always N+1, N being the number you currently admit to owning, not counting the ones stashed in mates garages.

That's a nice looking bike. I've heard stories about reliability issues, poor quality etc but having sold my Ducati and with some dosh in my pocket I quite like the idea of a Bullet. Any tips on what to look for?

I found this MCN NEWS page where owners of older Royal Enfield Bullets give real world reviews of their bike. As an owner myself, along with member Riggers and Leehenty, I am in agreement with what most say.

For those still interested the page is https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/enfield/500-bullet/1992/

Yes I took mine all to bits to investigate a slipping kickstart pawl and its fairly well made. EFI cases are CNC machined. Some smaller threads are not the best but I helicoiled all mine.

There are real oddities like on front downtube engine mount M8 x1.25 and 9/16 BSF on the same bracket. Rear shocks had M10x1.25 on swinger but 3/8 BSF on frame mounts causing much swearing in the workshop. They builds it you finish it off. Reliability has been 100% even before I rebuilt engine with decent bearings and a German primary chain. Lots of whats called character also an old man magnet if you visit a café.

Get big bottles of Loctiite 243 and 270 you will need it. Most of the fasteners are not of high quality but easy to replace.

You need to be master of the spanners with one of these. Fun to ride though.

Being a Raleigh it will see you out. Being that age don't let it be scrapped.

Hi, first post on here for years. TDM900 53 plate that I have had from new, and a K1300GT. Both different enough to justify having.
