850 Destruction - drewpy - 18-08-2020 Quote:Interesting drew, i've not been gentle but not ragged it either, somewhere in the middle i suppose, i expect your more confident about that procedure as you know more than me re mechanics etc.. never even considered gasket material either, anyway wont harm to nip em when doing a valve check, they can be done even if the cams dont need to come out again.. prolly change my oil around 200 miles, much will depend on riding time and weather..sounds like a plan mate 850 Destruction - dablik - 06-09-2020 Right then, i think it's time to close this thread now chaps...  Not posted because it's just been an ongoing saga of small issues, me other neighbours now having had a digger in the garden, patio getting laid, weather and work and it became all a bit samey same, more frustration etc... I never thought it would drag out for so long..  Now running like a peach, no earplugs in so it sounds like a tractor but Aircooled jumped on and it sounds lovely, he reckons the gear box is smoother than his 96 mk2, but then he's not rode it in awhile, got just over 100 miles on now and i'm currently chuffed with the motor, pulls clean and strong and gear changes good, fingers crossed it stay's that way..  Al Septembers here already, have to play a meet up by ear as really i want it run in some more yet, might be just a meet at Pateley Bridge perhaps, might even get Ian to run up eh !  Any issues (yes i'm sure ) i'll post up in an ongoing or new thread from now on..  Thanks for all the patience and help, especially Studs, Daps and Lee.. :good: :good: :good: 850 Destruction - dapleb - 06-09-2020 Well done dabs....the painful bits of the build will fade away. YOU rebuilt that bike summat to be very proud of. Xx 850 Destruction - dablik - 06-09-2020 Quote:Well done dabs....the painful bits of the build will fade away. YOU rebuilt that bike summat to be very proud of. Xx Yup cheers matey, your right the plentiful moments of frustration will fade, the more i get to ride it the happier i will be, once i get some more miles on and am more confident of the build i'll be back in bike heaven..  I still need a new seat cover and small items but they can all wait for now... so far so good :good: 850 Destruction - peter-may - 06-09-2020 Nice one Cliff, I'll miss this this thread though! Sure we've all learned something from this and I wouldn't have tried this without a shed. Time to enjoy and well done Cliff. :good: :good: 850 Destruction - dablik - 07-09-2020 Thanks Dave, i've been told it aint happening again and to clean up the aftermath in the office upstairs and elsewhere, like what you did with the "patients" very appropriate. I do fancy rebuilding a little engine over winter though, might not be worth the ear-ache ![]() 850 Destruction - Matlock - 07-09-2020 Top job Cliff, triumph in the face of adversity :good: 850 Destruction - dablik - 07-09-2020 Quote:Top job Cliff, triumph in the face of adversity :good: Cheers Chris, never was a truer word spoken ![]() 850 Destruction - leehenty - 08-09-2020 Well done Cliff you have been admitted into the order of the oily spanner, for bravery in the face of insurmountable odds. 850 Destruction - dablik - 08-09-2020 Quote:Well done Cliff you have been admitted into the order of the oily spanner, for bravery in the face of insurmountable odds. i'll take it, send medal please.850 Destruction - drewpy - 08-09-2020 Quote:Âyou can be tone of the knights of Ni  https://youtu.be/zIV4poUZAQo 850 Destruction - dablik - 09-09-2020 Quote:you can be tone of the knights of Ni  :rotflmmfao:850 Destruction - ramotdm - 10-09-2020 Cliff well done mate, you really have stuck at it and won,  I could not have done it, Hats off to you,  post up about meet :good: 850 Destruction - Snowbird - 10-09-2020 I've only dipped in to the early bits of this thread due to being a relative newbie and that is no small rebuild you've done, and all outside. I'd have thought twice and have 2 sheds and a garage with electric and work in an engine shop, my hat is well and truly off to you, even dabbled in a tad of covid just give yourself an excuse to slack off but got there and it's now sweet. Get out there and enjoy it, you've bloody well earned it, don't worry about insurance values it's there for riding not worrying. 850 Destruction - dablik - 11-09-2020 Quote:Cliff well done mate, you really have stuck at it and won, Cheers matey, will do...300 miles on her now, need to bang a few more on and then a meet up...Pateley Bridge top of the hill at Teacups for a brew and chinwag.. |
