Hi MattTDM!

The service manual states:

1) plugs - verify - clean and adequate distance from the electrodes to 10k, 30k - replace every 20k

2) Air Filter - Check and clean 10k, 30k - replace every 20k

I clean and check items 1 and 2, less often than recommended.

However the substitution is 20 to 20k.

The frequency of inspection and cleaning air filter, is intrinsic where you wheel

(only asphalt, dirt / dust?)

I wish you a pleasant journey. :good:

Cheers!

Thanks for that info, generally I think if I am going to spend the time to remove the plugs, I would just replace them, given they are cheap and that the fuel tank needs to come off.

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - MAW - 06-07-2015

I just got the bike from a friend but since his not in town and I do not have the keys  I did not advance as much as I could.

I am now in a search process, already found a bent handlebar, worn out grips, speedometer not working and some broken plastics easy fits with the exception  of the speedometer.

The archives shows corrode contacts and problems with the unit in the wheel, what should I look for in the sensor to establish if is bad or not?

Hi MAW!

I believe the sensor, is a more difficult piece to give defects. Most likely a rust / dirt on the wire connections.

You already dismantled the front wheel, to see if the sensor rotor is ok?

See what happened to me this link: http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/index.php?showtopic=31395&hl=rotor

Cheers!

Quote:I did not ride the last days because the outside temperature is too high - more than 40° & the the sunshine is unbearable.

I'm planning to relocate in a rainny country...  :hide:

You're welcome ! Today we've got 18° and heavy rain  :badgerrock:

Ordered a new (er...used) complete R6 braking system, as my master pump has started to feel a little sticky - it doesn't always return fully when engaged. It breaks as usual, but it kinda doesn't return properly.

As I want the best possible brakes this was exactly what was needed for me to start an upgrade...dreaming of the bling-bling blue spots now :pimp:

here ya go TDMick

first day at my place, all plastic must die

evening of first day

second day, 18cm out of the frame and the seat

seat reupholstered, took 18cm from the middle, not the back off

welded together for testing

moved the rear taillight into the frame with the original brackets to keep the seat functional and removable

and it started to look like this

then new handlebars and mirrors

then bent some DiBond to cover the butt and washed and voila, ready it is

and as the name implies, real REDNECK ENGINEERING from Estonia Smile

Pulled it out the garage and  adjusted the headlight beams in preparation for an MOT.

Its being lent to some one for a few months whilst I attempt to resurrect  their Z1R  that has lain in a damp shed in bits for 30 years.

Replaced the headlight bulb which blew on the G2G Saturday rideout. Ivan (GeordieGuy) gave me replacement that day, so I wasn't left lightless, but I replaced that with an Osram Silverstar2 today - big improvement over a standard H7. I've got a new bulb for you next time I see you Ivan  :good: .

And I replaced one of the oil feed pipes on my Lee Henty twin feed Scotoiler which I I must have damaged when I swapped tyres before the G2G and which promptly deposited oil on my back tyre on the Saturday rideout when the crack in it got worse   Shocked . Thanks to Mr Henty for supplying replacements in double quick time at no cost, you are a star sir  :good:

Oh, TPB. You are a naughty boy. Spring for some forks and a decent shock and you have a lickable streetfighter. Cruel and unusual but why not?

Washed mine today, polished the alloy bits, lubed the moving bits and then took it for a fang to dry it off. Ahhhhhh. Deep joy.

Oh. Pulled off the radiator guard for a respray. It's hanging off the plum tree as I post.
