Carcoon Or Similar - dablik - 18-04-2020 Blimey daps, your being very productive all of a sudden, suprised you can move with all the cake  anudder job done eh....Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 18-04-2020 Ahh that were done a while back dabs wicky requested some pics. I have so much to do it's ridiculous. Two jobs on hold but soo much stuff that's been put off for months/years due to lack of time. ....if it carries on for another few months I might even go back to the very very very slow enjun build!!! Someone came in to the lock up the other week and was amased at how dry and not humid it was.....so now I am roped into sorting theirs out too.! Yep that's a very plush set up you have daps, take advantage and put a camp bed in or sleep in the Disco matey, did you finally sort that tiny detail for the beast yet.....remember, small round metal thingys... This is most dreadful news due to damp. .and pitch blackness. Any ideas for powering a dehumidifier full time and lights part time? (ââÐâ)â彡â»ââ» Carcoon Or Similar - dablik - 31-08-2022 Oh that's not good matey, small genny to power the lights, torch wont really cut it in that cavern eh, can only think of solar panels for the dehumidifier but spect would have to be of a reasonable size.... is this forever and ever ? Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 31-08-2022 Think it's a long term plan due to energy costs. I have been down there when there were a power cut dabs....it really is pitch black you can poke yersen in the eye before finger becomes visible. I guess even with solar panel you then need a way of wiring one to t'other. ಠಿ_ಠCarcoon Or Similar - Catteeclan - 01-09-2022 Solar panels to charge a battery running an inverter. I'm guessing you'll need a few of the cheap panels to keep the batt topped up. Running a 12v dehumidifier and lights would save power by cutting out the inverter. âLet us know how you go as I've been thinking along these lines with the price of leccy going up. Carcoon Or Similar - ChrisG - 01-09-2022 I think my little portable Delonghi dehumidifier uses about 250w. So running something like that full time is 6kwh/day  My google-fu suggests a 300w solar panel getting 8 hours of sun a day produces about 2.5kwh/day, so you'd need three 300w panels plus say 250Ah of batteries to over 12 hours, just to get through an average day. Plus the extra capacity to see you through the winter... Plus as Catteeclan says inverters are inefficient, you'd want to run 12v if you can.  Have you got a nearby river? I reckon a water turbine would probably be better Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 01-09-2022 Thanks for the ideas chaps. I like the 12v idea for dehums but don't think they would shift nearly enough water. These buildings are designed to be high humidity. Also annoying that when needed most (winter) the energy is hardest to obtain. I think that I will have to surrender the main lock up to the horrors of damp and focus efforts on the poly tunnel of goodies.... though that is still going to be a losing battle I think. Hoohummmm. Cwis the Thames isn't THAT far away â°( ï½¥ á ï½¥ )â Also close to runway...there must be some excellent energy transference going on there I couod tap in to. Carcoon Or Similar - dablik - 01-09-2022 What about a method to circulate air, would he let ya put a large fan in the wall, a dozen candles underneath to power it that situation's not good though innit daps, even just to dehumidify the poly tunnel would be some achievement, you may have to purchase a proper bike/carcoon and keep em airtight. You seen this, even cater for caravans. I knew a bloke in Germany who collected cars and had all of em in a vac bag in storage, to good effect. Carcoon Or Similar - dapleb - 01-09-2022 The poly tunnel is air tight dabs. Vapour membrane on floor sealed to poly tunnel flaps....but when the"outside" is rocking 85% humidity it is gonna geddin eventually. There are masseeeeve fans built into the walls they are so powerful I once locked myself in by turning them on at the control unit outside and making the mistake of going inside and the door suctioned closed. â.â. Had to pry me way back out. Of course no use without power... I could try candles. (θâ¿Î¸) Carcoon Or Similar - dablik - 01-09-2022 Yea but poly tunnel sealed for most prized possession Tdm Tish  but worrabout other BIG stuff, vac-bag could be useful, it's a bit of a dilemma eh.Carcoon Or Similar - ChrisG - 01-09-2022 Quote:The poly tunnel is air tight dabs. Vapour membrane on floor sealed to poly tunnel flaps....but when the"outside" is rocking 85% humidity it is gonna geddin eventually. In that case surely you only need a dehumidifier to run for a while to pull any moisture out that gets in when you open the polytunnel? The total amount should of water in there should be pretty small.
