>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - tjd850 - 29-06-2010

Hi everone,
My names Terry. I own 2 x TDMs. A Green 93(K)Mk1 and a Red 91(J)Mk1
I've had the green one since it was 3 years old........blimey that's 14-15 years now
The red one I've had about 6 weeks
The green one I could never keep running reliably for more than a couple of months so it went into the shed about 4 years and there it stay.
I got the urge a couple of months ago and convently there was another one sitting in the local bike shop. Also thought If I get this I've already got one for spares

I then found this site and spent the last few weeks trawling the topics and subjects and low and behold ............emulsion tubes........ There's prob' nothing wrong with the old one I bet.

Anyway I have two now. Made best one from two But both work

I have a pair of tubes to fit but haven't ventured that far into this bike yet.........whilst it's running and all that......though it is giving me about 35mpg......

Forgot to say I live in the UK, Essex, Witham............

What's really prompted me to say hello is I've just got off test riding a 1200 Super tenere........ OMG what a bike what an engine
Rode it around the block and was impressed. The bloke from the shop said "did you put it in the sport mode sir".....Off round the block agin in sport mode.....................................................wooooooooooooooossshhhh
or more like grrrrroooowwwwwllllllll

1200 TDM ??????? when they couldn't say. But the price tag

£13999.00

I only went in to look at buying a pair of bike jeans

I'm rambling now ..........

Hope to meet some of you in the near future

Regards
Terry

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Guest - 01-07-2010

Hi Folks and greetings from sunny Scotland,

I`ve been riding and working on bikes for over 30yrs and picked up my 1997 TDM at the end of 2009 in a hell of a state. The silly thing was that when i rode it, i liked it which is always a fatal mistake for me.

Anyway, the engine seemed ok and nothing that a quick going over wouldn`t sort out but the rest of the bike looked like it`d been pulled through a hedge backwards. How the hell people ride bikes with 1" of movement at the bottom of the fork legs and a back wheel that stays on the ground no matter how high you juck the bike is beyond me. I don`t think the steering head bearings had ever been changed and the bottom ring of the rear shock had rusted through and wasn`t attached to the rest of the shock.

The bike was pulled apart and it`s been costing me time and money ever since. Just waiting on decals to be made and new clutch & heavy duty springs to arrive and it should be good to go. Once completed then i`ll post up some pics.

My other bikes are a 1996 Triumph 900 Speedtriple and a one off streetfighter powered but a much modified Yamaha FJ12 motor.

Right, i`ll need to head off just now as bikes to sort and money to be made.

Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt and TerryD welcome to the home of everything TDM and cake related.

TerryD - if you fancy meeting up sometime, there are a few of us not too far away from you in the Lowestoft/Gt Yarmouth area and Jolly G's not far away either. We're usually up for a rideout/cake munching/fettling session.

Between us all we have a pretty reasonable technical skill set, not to mention Moose's formidable cake baking skills (Moose cakes are a thing to behold).

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - PostmanPat - 16-07-2010

Gidday--just picked up a 2005 900 the other week (had a 91 850 for 9 years/100,000km some years back also).
Had been looking at a workmate's smashed 850 recently with thoughts of fixing it,and then this popped up at a BMW dealer.
Devil pipes (definitely not "silencers" but came with the standard mufflers as well),Givi tall screen (plus standard screen),Bagster tank cover and tankbag,Ventura rack,12V socket,new chain and sprockets,new rear disc and pads (sounds like somebody didn't check his pads too often...)--22,500km on the clock.
Ordered a Yamaha centrestand ($550+ !!!!) and Givi pannier racks--may replace the Ventura rack with a topbox plate later.
Handguards and heated grips are next on the list--it's winter,and I'm cold...
Time to flog off the Transalp,but not my ABS WeeStrom...

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - mekon88 - 26-07-2010

Hi there, Im the mekon, im from the fakenham/holt area of norfolk, just picked up a smashing blue, 1991 850 which has been rather modified..... bigger wheels (so im told) and a new front end with USD forks and i would imagine uprated brakes aswell as trx end cans, it came from moose's doorstep practically it came from brampton huntingdon! apparantly a tdm owner in the area came to look at it just for the front end... was it you??? will put up some pics later if the sun comes out......

about me well im a youngster but with good taste, i have a 250 4poke enduro bike (kwak kl250 super sherpa), a 700 V four cruiser (honda magna v40 my precious), a vfr 400 (nc24) that is on long term loan to the mother-in-law and thats just the ones i still have, theres also been a long list of bikes bought and sold in the last couple years lol

occasionally when its wet or i need to tow i have a cage (e36 325tds Touring)

anything else.... oh and for a living i deal drugs!!!........... ok i work in chemist but its soo funny to say it the first way
