sorry no pictures but doubled the amount of holes in the clutch basket to allow more oil to the plates,

also fitted shorter lighter springs in the clutch to make it much easier to pull the clutch lever (no slip)

what part did you drill, I drilled holes into a part many years ago to try and stop clutch squeal, it worked while the plates were new, it did it again last time I rode it but there has been many years since I did it (recently got bike back)

I drilled the hub part of the basket to let more oil in, and drilled the outer part of the basket to let more oil to the plates, hope that makes sense

MOT. Another fully clean sheet. The tester even forgot to mention the chain slack, so he must be getting educated. He did say the headlamp was a tiny bit low, which to be fair, is down to me as I wound a turn off the front preload and raised the forks 3mm. Happy bunny for 72k miles.Â

Hi Y'all
been a while, the reason is, my TDM had a short somewhere and left me stranded in Buxton. Smoke pouring from under the tank.

anyhoo, I've found the critter, a tiny rub on the ignition wire. I had take out the loom to find it, gave the connections a soak in salt and white vinegar then Bicarb to neutralise the acid.
Â
most of the connectors have some up really bright, just need to work on a few that are full of green gunge.
Given a few more weeks and I'll be back out riding again after the MOT

it was my intention to wash the bike and take it out to dry it it off now that we have super dry weather, I needed it to go and help my wife lifting stuff at the allotment (she used the car to get there), it had gathered so much dust from our on going garden project (pond), so it needs to be clean to make a start,
it bo******** rained, now back to no where,
still it was interesting to ride with the fast idle stuck on, every time I released the brakes the bike accelerated, thought it was going to blow up while waiting at traffic lights that take two days to change so had to turn it off,
the best laid plans are often best buried

Gave it a shim check at 49,000, nothing moved but I had noted that the cam chain was stretched as the marks didnt exactly line up. Treated it to a new genuine cam chain, everything lines up perfectly now. Buttoned it all back up ready for another 24,000.

In the TDM the endless chain can be easily fitted, just remove both oil pumps. It helps to have both oil pump gaskets to hand as they are thin and easily torn. Tie a bit of wire to old chain to pull new one up the tunnel. As Both cams have to come out, its best to do this at shim time.

well I managed to wash it again and take it for a short ride to blow most of the water off, bike constantly revving at 2500rpm except with the engine cutting out each time I de-throttle before starting again at 2500rpm made me aware of what it must be like to be a kangaroo
