Rtt 09. Camping List Requirements - ChrisG - 27-05-2009 I did think of that advert as I was typing but much as I like boursin surely I should be seeing this trip as an opportunity to consume my own body weight in camembert? I may have a (possibly deserved) reputation as a cake lover but that pales in to insignificance next to my passion for cheese Rtt 09. I was thinking more escargots, boeuf bourguignon and crepes. <!--coloro:#FF0000--><!--/coloro-->Cassoulet<!--colorc--> <!--/colorc--> or coq au vin should be doable in a camp site, though I intend to find a boulangerie and live on vin, pain et fromage. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Can't beat a nice cassoulet I especially like the proper canard ones, I always pick up a few from Auchan when I do the wine trip, though with current Euro rate I've not been for about a year, normally go 2-3 times yearly. Think I may pick a few up on the trip down - <!--coloro:#FF0000--><!--/coloro-->but I guess there'll be a decent hypermarket not too many miles away - anyone know?<!--colorc--> <!--/colorc--> Anyway as I'm a chalet occupant I hadn't really planned for any cooking, but in the interest of economising I'm not against the odd night in. Will there be a flat rate for non-campers to "rent" cooking facilities (bottles of beer?), I suppose communal meals isn't really feasable? Something else for the packing list now - bowl, spoon and mug! ADDED: Oops, just found the nearest Auchan is 60km away - AUCHAN VILLENEUVE/LOT -BIAS (60 km) RN 111 Rte de Bordeaux 47300 BIAS But there's a Carrefour Market (not sure if they're smaller ones) in Gourdon (7.4 kms) - Route de Fumel LIEU DIT BOURRIAT 46300 GOURDON and also a big one in Cahors (36.9kms) - Route de Toulouse 46000 CAHORS Rtt 09. Camping List Requirements - iand1947 - 28-05-2009 Re. cooking, don't forget the disposable barbecue option, folks - easy to obtain locally for a wee treat with no hassle. (You can even fry up an egg on the heat using a tinfoil "cup cake" tray.) Works well in small teams - cut cost by working a rota. Rtt 09. Camping List Requirements - ChrisG - 05-06-2009 Back on the survivalist theme, I've just had a quick test of my new stove. Yes I know it's geeky but I do test and evaluation for a living, hence I now know it'll boil my kettle in under 3.5 minutes (should be quicker if I use the heatshield) and should run for around 2 hours on half a litre of petrol Rtt 09.
