What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 16-09-2024

Made some more headway with the fuel cut defeat device.

The hardest part has been to create a simulated series of injector pulses which take place at the same time as the genuine hardware based ones.

The blue lower trace shows injector pulses at the injector.

The yellow trace above the blue trace shows the 'computed' pulses

I now need to add detection for the absence of genuine pulses, then substitute the missing pulses with the computed ones, back to the injector, to make the injector fire an 'idling engine' amount of fuel, at just the right time.

Wow! I can't even get the bloody Ids for my new injectors entered into the ecu on my Toyota diesel without triggering an eeprom programming error😂

That's a nightmare, you need injectors !

It runs, so some diesel is apparently squirted through them. Local Toyota garage looks into it tomorrow. May be in need of a proper OBD2 tool  Confusedorry:

Had a steady run about in Northumberland yesterday to test my damaged back (no airhawk), and managed 196 miles on 13.86 litres or about 64 mpg (UK Gallon). Had a short run today but had to return to cut mine and neighbours lawn (also has a damaged back)

Hey Carpers ! Long time no chat but hope alls well.

Still going strong in the TDM life here and bringing Tone-Jr into the fold ( it was inevitable ).

What Ive done recently is to get out more and bring the next generation into the wonderful world of two-wheel heaven. And still living in Scotland so I cant leave the garage without hitting a good road ! Sorry not Sorry

Good luck lads and lasses !

Great to hear from you mate ! I know the feeling - between Covid and June this year I only did the MOT centre and back each year ! Bringing the youth of the family into it made it easier to get some time out.

Even my Daughter is in on it - or she just likes the Ice Cream at Peebles lol

A great place to ride, good roads no traffic and great scenery, I spent a few years going up to visit AliG in Melrose to ride the borders, he's now moved - to northern Spain, which has good roads no traffic and great scenery!  Smile

It's taken some patience and some 'maffs fer numbers', but I've got this to work, at least as far as my old 900 running in the garage is concerned.

In sixth gear, (bike on centre stand !) after applying the beans, then shutting off the throttle, the microchip starts pulsing the injector when the ECU cuts the fuel. The problematic bit has been accommodating the fact the injectors fire earlier in the cycle as the rpm's increase,to give enough time for the fuel amount of fuel to be delivered. The 'replacement pulse'  takes this into account. It only works at rpm's higher than 2000, which is adjustable, as is the amount of fuel delivered through the range of rpm's

I need to make up a strong hardware version instead of the current breadboard and thin wire version, I have a few days away at a wedding between now and the weekend, so I should get a 'round to-it' next week, hopefully it was worth it !

You clever bloke. Be interesting hearing how the full on road test goes.
