What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 04-03-2024

Have to agree it looks very nice, i'm thinking that's my old screen which came to me courtesy of Ramo, used it on an April trip to Scotland actually where it kept the cold at bay then moved it on, all a bit vague now... looks a good buy Chris.

Is it your old bike ?

There don't seem to be any 'nasties' hiding away. The suspension links are the 4-way alternate position type dog bones, and there is zero play in the linkage bushes when I try to raise and lower the rear wheel,

Quote:That looks pretty tidy Chris.  :good:

Can't complain with the price of £1250.

When I rode it yesterday, even in the damp, it held a stable line around every bend.

My bars might be a bit long and stick out more than the originals do, but they feel good so I'm happy for now

No Chris not my old bike, she's in bike heaven in Spain broke into a bunch of bits, although yours looks just as good as mine ever was...

stripped my front blue spots and cleaned the brake pistons.

Pads still have life in them, I'd say 1/2 worn, they've  been through 1 front tyre so far.

Got ready to do the annual service - a major with shim check, overdue @ 55,000 or so.

Dug out the records from the first shimming back in 2015.

Hoiked it up on the EazyRizer.

[attachment=o15503]

Pulled the back wheel to get at the shock linkage.

[attachment=o15504]

Loosened the bellypan support to allow the oil filter pan removal. Anyone else with the official Yamaha bellypan found a way round this weird arrangement?

I'd put up some pix but the system refuses and is saying Uploading is not allowed for some reason. They are .JPGs and under 10MB each. Have I been a naughty boy and got blocked? Fixed now - thanks dapleb.

Thanks. It goes quite well with the PC3. I enabled the accelerator pump function and it's given it better pickup.

Still has a bit of a mid range hole in power deli, but thats a limit of the original ECU being used.

I was concerned about a buzzing/clattering, which I thought might be the camchain. I checked the tensioner and it was fine. Turned out the noise was due to debris and old spring clips which had fallen into the front fairing infill panels !

Having major trouble trying to find a top mount for the Ohlins shock. It's not on their website, they recommend going to an Ohlins dealer ERS Racing at Knockhill, but they haven't replied, so I might take a run up to there today in person.

If it's a 26mm eyelet which the top bush sits in then I can get a 10 x 26 spherical bearing pressed into it and that should work fine Smile

But I can't measure the eyelet until I press out the old bush, or someone with an Ohlins catalogue confirms the size

Needs handguards, and that's about it Smile

Glad you keep me on me toes Steve  Wub

Found somewhere who can get me a new top bush for the Ohlins, ERS Racing at Dunfermline.

£7 part, £27 delivery from Germany. Eddie of ERS put a note out to other UK based  Ohlins Dealers to see if there's one in the country.

And he smooth-talked me into leaving the shock for a full service and spring powder coat.  Lol

On my 3vd I can remove the oil pan without removing the bellypan, It did take me a oil changes before trying it and finding out I could. Maybe the later ones are different.

I changed the oil t'other day and noticed slug trails in the filter cover. I suspect they are grinding marks from the factory, leveling off the three pins.

But, not having noticed them before I do have a bit of paranoia. Anything to be concerned about?

Looks like a hand held grinder. Be interesting to see another.

If you've never had oil pressure issues I wouldn't worry, as you said likely a bit of dressing when cast.

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - marko67 - 13-03-2024

Cheers. Never had any issues and no shiny lumps in the old oil.

I suspect whoever finished off the casting was on the lash the night before.

Not my actual bike but I gave it new front pads and a wash ready for the Annual tyre kicking session. Passed with flying colours not bad for a 20 year old bike.

I'm needing new pads end of the year.

those Carbon Lorraine ones have been great and I've had them on for 6 years and taken me through spain for 2 weeks  and the nc500 for the same.

Not Cheap though

Made these alloy infill discs with a centre threaded connector rod for a guy on here. They fit the swing arm ports on the frame to tidy it up. The gel decals are genuine Yamaha.

Fitted some NC700 handguards. £14.99

From here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315017581637

Also required were bar end plugs, I chose these, £6.89

They're only cheapo moulded things but the two fixing points make them quite rigid
