Got mine a new front tyre, Michelin Road 6 GT. A direct replacement for the Road 5 was not available. My recent tour up North seems to have created particularly heavy wear, but I think I got my money's worth @ 10,500 miles. Here it is on the back of my Cagiva setting off to the fitter. I had not previously noticed the clear line between the different rubber compounds.

10.500 miles out of a bike tyre? I get about 3.500 out of my Maxxis on the back front not a lot more maybe I should stop buying cheap tyres.

Blimey Steve, that's good mileage and are'nt your roads more inducive to tyre wear ?

Dunno about relative wear, but the comments suggest a quick back-check of my records for tyre life might be interesting. Watch this space......

I've checked my records and, believe it or not, that 10,500 is the shortest life of my fronts!

At purchase bike had Pirelli Angels, fitted @ 6491 Front, 13760 Rear.

Date removed                   Front Tyre       Miles               Rear Tyre             Miles

17/06/13 @ 18350         P’lli Angel            11,860                 P’lli Angel            4,590

30/07/14 @ 24870                                                                P’lli Angel GT      6,520

15/04/16 @ 32000         P’lli Angel GT      13,650                 P’lli Angel GT      7,130

11/07/18 @ 38900                                                                 Michelin PR4      6,900

09/09/19 @ 44250         Michelin PR4      12,250

20/07/21 @ 48460                                                                 Mich Road 5       9,560

14/09/23 @ 54760         Mich Road 5GT  10,510

I think I replaced the first rear early, to make a new set.

The last rear Road5 is a surprise, but the current one is over 6,000 and has plenty of thread left so the figure shown is feasible. However IIRC the wires were showing after a long weekend up north!

I'd like to think the longevity is due to me not braking much, but using my IAM training to plan.

Perhaps I should look at brake pad replacement data!!

First post on the forum, seems this is a good place to start as any.  Rolleyes

First cleaning done since I bought it a month ago. Not my main thing to do, usally keeps the bikes "sort of" clean. But it turned out well for a 01.

Also started consolidating the parts for winter's mods. Guess that means there will be more posts here?

Got some work lined up and warm days are becomming rarer, so after fabricating a new solar panel frame for the shed early this morning.......

I had a lovely - new tyre  - ride out to Camptown (9er),, using a whimsical and varied route, on some roads I'd not ridden before and many I had.

2 rear tyre cornering slides on country lanes to make sure I was paying attention Rolleyes Lol  No 5's :good:

TBH - I don't care much for Pirelli Angels but they'll have to do for now. Bridgestone T32's feel better.IMHO

Yesterday I parked my 1999 tdm for the upcomming winter here in Norway, only sad thing was that my battery didn't manage the autum this year, but the battery is 24 year so there will be an repalcement in the spring. In the wintertime it has been charged all the time, and evry spring the tdm has started  Smile

Have anyone else had their battey so long?

Maybe I should contact the manufacter and ask for a new since its broken  Lol
