850 Destruction - dablik - 12-05-2020 Yea,yea, chained my arse, your bed is next to that lathe i bet Lee, thanks a million they look blingey, god i'm gonna have to sort every single bolt at some point..  Hi Chris, cheers for that, typical of me being impatient at £9 for antifreeze, got 500ml of brake fluid for a 5r in B&Q so that was a result, Halfords prices have just become ridiculous... they even put spray cans up by a few quid during lockdown...  On a bike related note been at those exhausts again and tried every which way to fit them properley but it aint happening, i'm thinking i should of swapped the downpipes from the mk2 as well but they appeared identical, so a job to sort later and i think a new Y piece may be the way, gotta have twin pipes, brum brum.. 850 Destruction - leehenty - 12-05-2020 As it happens my bed is no more than 12ft from lathe, but I do burn a lot of midnight oil in there. 850 Destruction - Studley Ramrod - 12-05-2020 Quote:Yea,yea, chained my arse, your bed is next to that lathe i bet Lee, thanks a million they look blingey, god i'm gonna have to sort every single bolt at some point..Just wondering if the link pipes are identical ? If not then maybe swapping 'em over might be worth a try ?  Did you have to use a trolley to buy the brake fluid at B&Q ?  I had to use wan when I bought a 2.1m length of timber, and again today, a 9" paint roller n tray. Apparently, it's essential to help maintain the 2m distance. ![]()  EDIT: Oh, just remembered, check that one of the footpeg hangers hasn't moved inwards. Or both hangars have moved to left or right slightly. Mine had on my 1st mk1, I put it down to someone dropping the bike at some point. Large block of timber and managed to push it back out so it matched the other side. 850 Destruction - dablik - 12-05-2020 Yea i had a look today and the foot hangers seem fine as that thought crossed my mind as well, i'll measure i think but i'm pretty sure the mk2 downpipes may be whats missing, that bike is now in France though, even so it's just an exscuse for a new Y pipe innit, the Remus cans have spring holders on them but not on the end of the Y where they join the cans and they were really quite tight on the mk2, also i got fed up of touching left side can down on a tight turn when riding his mk2, may have been a bit of a bodge fit in the 1st place :dunno: anyhoo they'll go brumm brum for now.. B&Q No trolley as i went before the 2 metre thingy started, so was a while ago i got it and i went there as it was a saving of around a tenner compared to the highwaymen.. 850 Destruction - dablik - 14-05-2020 So found a leak on me new brake lines today, should'nt be suprised i guess, bought them last year for £16 in a closing down sale so god knows what i got, the banjo got a slight knock and started dripping fluid, better now than later me thinks, so need to replace them. [attachment=o13141]  Fuel lines to the tap, bassad buggers, these are thick walled hose which i replaced awhile ago, now gone very hard which makes it difficult to bend them about. [attachment=o13142]  So battery box and tray out and got them fitted [attachment=o13143]  then could'nt fit the metal battery tray in as could'nt get them in the guide underneath attached to it (to wide) so getting smaller diameter hose to replace them, god knows how i fit them before, think that was an epic struggle so tapped it and glued it in.. Carbs on choke's connected vac line and breather hoses now not in pic [attachment=o13144]  So much toing and froing about, dunno where the day has gone but looks like this is the snagging stage getting the bits and bobs done. what else, radiator plumbed in and tanked. [attachment=o13145]  And forever onwards ![]()  850 Destruction - Studley Ramrod - 14-05-2020 Good stuff Dabs. :good: 850 Destruction - dapleb - 14-05-2020 Whoop whoop 850 Destruction - wicklamulla - 14-05-2020 so noice to see clutch n' alternator covers with a nnew paint finish and the crisp new bolt heads not over sprayed. Have all Stainless to fit the covers Ken, to go on yet, the odd size fuel tap bolts, ah well i was pondering that meself last night, it's cos the left M5 screw nudges the reserve spigot and the last tap it got pushed out so had to doctor it, but it's on me list so you can sleep better sweety pie :giveusahug: Yep black rubber surround is on the headlights..  Forgot to post this last night, which side does the radiator overflow bottle's overflow pipe drain off, left or right, assuming left ? [attachment=o13148][attachment=o13149] 850 Destruction - leehenty - 15-05-2020 Tell me what size and length stainless bolts yiu need for that fuel tap, it's giving me the green shakes just looking at it. Good job you found that brake line, if it had gone pop in emergency braking... Use genuine Venhill power hose plus, Goodridge or Hel. 850 Destruction - Studley Ramrod - 15-05-2020 Not left, right. Overflow pipe on mine goes same as yours to clip on frame, then past the right of the top of oil tank and over the frame rail, then down the right side of frame just behind the engine, think there might be some frame clips along there too. 850 Destruction - dablik - 15-05-2020 Quote:Tell me what size and length stainless bolts yiu need for that fuel tap, it's giving me the green shakes just looking at it. Good job you found that brake line, if it had gone pop in emergency braking... Let you know when i sort it Lee, it needs doctoring which is why it has 2 different bolts, so that's on me snag list.. Also big blingy nut arrived today :good: 850 Destruction - dablik - 15-05-2020 Quote:Not left, right. Okay thought it was right but the hose is just long enough to go left which is were it was before destruction, and yep there's a guide halfway down the frame and another at the bottom, pretty sure carb overflow goes down that side as well, it's long enough, fank ewe :good:  Today a little electrification, nice bath to start with [attachment=o13163] Then set up [attachment=o13164] Then there was light, how that happen :unsure2: [attachment=o13165]  So harness back off, gonna do a little soldering and wrap it up and it can go back on the bike. 850 Destruction - alanfavell - 15-05-2020 How you feeling - all betterer now?  Bike looks good - be finished before lockdown is at this rate. :good: Have Friday :drinks: 850 Destruction - dablik - 15-05-2020 Hi Al, much better thanks, still get short of breath a bit if trying to walk fast and off to Occy health Monday for an Antibody test.  Coming together but a big snag list, end is in sight, already had that Friday :drinks:cheers.. 850 Destruction - Snowbird - 15-05-2020 Good luck at occy health, it seems they now have an antibody test that actually works with some kind of accuracy. 850 Destruction - drewpy - 16-05-2020 hope it goes well mate :good: 850 Destruction - dablik - 16-05-2020 Cheer's chaps it's a proper vein blood collection as opposed to a finger prick, no gaurantees of immunity, here's hoping.. 850 Destruction - Matlock - 16-05-2020 Quote:Today a little electrification, nice bath to start withEr, what is going on here?   Has nobody told you electrickery and water do not make good bedfellows? |
