Rode it to Kincardine and put a deposit down on a 2008 9er ( Do I need to go shopping for frilly / fluffy things now ?? )

Then it died to play up started with a random sweep of the clocks - then no Speedo or rev counter then no indicators etc finally decided after the misfire & surging to pull over

Switched off then On and nothing at all!!! Tested battery all good ? thought of phoning Breakdown service but wasn't exactly sure what road I was on - oops

So after a bit of Head scratching - thought I have a spare started solenoid with Me try that

Nothing to loose then try breakdown service

Happy days - Turns out one of the Fuses had melted in the solenoid - That will be 3rd started solenoid on the 850 TDM in a year, also had to replace 1 on my Son's 600 Hornet that I've been using

Hmm can't be Me can it ?

what 3 words is a great phone app gives your location anywhere in the world in 3m squares

the emergency services use it also i think most of the breakdown companies

as well

Will make it into Italy tomorrow. So far I've been on 98 or 100 octane which, unlike the uk, is only between 2 to 5 cents a litre more than e10. May be in my head but 100 is nice in riding the alps.[attachment=o14792][attachment=o14793][attachment=o14794]

Looks good

With 100 fuel you can advance the timing by 5 degrees and really feel the benefit, but probably not worth the hassle to do it right now !

Set float levels to 13.7 today, putting carbs back in the bike tomorrow. Had a flat spot around 2500+, hopefully gone now, after floats lowered 1.1mm. Also removed my cracked front fender, and prepping the new motard-style fender and mounts for installation tomorrow as well. Also finished installing my modded start/power switch... Will post pics when i'm done tomorrow! Hope everybody having a splendid evening!

After a bit of a misfire in the rain in Devonshire last week, it's plugs and leads out for inspection time. The iridium plugs, now 22k old look great so are staying. Re-wrapped leads with self amalgamating tape. Only issue visible was some minor corrosion on one terminal to l/h coil. While i'm

there, gonna paint the radiator side bits. So all's good!

Retraced our steps from 2 weeks ago to photograph some trees which had been snapped in half by a recent storm, this time taking my camera.

Great ride on the B6355 between Tranent and Duns. When I was stopped I could hear distant rumblings so followed the noise to the Duns Motorcross event

Parked up, got some nice pics and headed home. (wrong tyres on the 900 so didn't bother trying a lap Wink )

Riding over the moors, playing 'dodge the rabbits',  I passed a tiny road off to to the side so deciding to investigate, I did a u-turn in a tight space, at 0mph the front wheel was perched on a stone, which slipped and I dropped the bike, actually, I let it down slowly, it was tired.....

Right in front of a parked camper full of people.

Pride restored I carried on and then 3 miles from home the gear pedal just fell off, the retaining bolt fell out,  I found the bolt quickly (really surprised) .

A great day of weather, and no harm done, eventually.

That's a lovely road over the moors through Longformacus. I often go there if I fancy an evening run.

I already have some believe it or not. But for years it's been enough to tighten to 'nice and tight NM'.

Live and learn...A corner I need to stop cutting !
