What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Sphere - 21-02-2021 Quote: Staples. Fortunate to have use of an air staple gun, the squeeze handle heavy duty one I have wouldn't quite cut it, and hammering them home the last couple of mm wasn't that successful. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 21-02-2021 Got out on it, at long last, last rode it in December in the wet and cold to the MOT test and back. (SORN'd for at least 18mths prior to that)  So, so , so , so, , so (not exaggerating..) glad that I put it back on the road .  It's working really well,-1 tooth front sprocket, mapped ECU, Scorpion cans with big bore db killers (not the usual small diameter end can type), Several new bearings, and brake lines(braided)  Pilot Power 3 on the rear is superb when you're up on the edges on the extra sticky compound  Just need to get rid of covid lockdowns now.....   TDM6 by Chris Barron, on Flickr">http:// TDM6 by Chris Barron, on FlickrWhat Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - itchyfeet2 - 21-02-2021 Nice paintwork. Is that speed camera stealth? What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Studley Ramrod - 21-02-2021 Fired up the bike today and now feeling inspired to use it next week after reading Fixit's post. Will give it a wash tomorrow and put some air in the rear tyre, check the fork seals and I'll be good to go. For some local shopping. ![]() What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 21-02-2021 Quote:Fired up the bike today and now feeling inspired to use it next week after reading Fixit's post. Will give it a wash tomorrow and put some air in the rear tyre, check the fork seals and I'll be good to go.  :good: :good: :good: Stay safe !   What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 22-02-2021 Quote:Nice paintwork. Is that speed camera stealth?I dream of that particular day. !  Cheapo vinyl wrap to cover some damage to the side panels, which were damaged on another bike and I swapped them around (long story) The nose was broken too, To test a theory I had, I 3D printed some brackets which were perfect matches for the particular angles of the broken pieces, and plastic welded them in place.  It's a long way from perfect, but it's sturdy enough for my liking. Rattle can black with a few layers of clear on top. There's a few runs if you know where to look ![]()  I don't mind doing anything to keep this bike going, it's been great to me. I paid £900 4 years ago and had to replace the alternator stator and shock link bearings, but it's been very cheap to run overall considering the performance and usability. 106,500 miles on it now and I would like to get to 110,000 at least by the end of summer ![]()    [/url]example3 by Chris Barron, on Flickr">http:// example3 by Chris Barron, on FlickrWhat Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - itchyfeet2 - 23-02-2021 After repeated adjustments of the carb on my 3vd, three days ago it all of a sudden just would not start. It would not even catch or try to catch, just turning over. Then the second guessing started, have I got spark? Has the timing chain slipped and the valves are not seating? All of the work I have done on the bike recently came back to haunt me, what the bloody hell could it be this time? Spark checked, timing chain checked, timing marks checked. Carbs off, re cleaned back on and still no joy.  An old boy in my village came walking past, "bet you've just flooded it" he said. 'I've had the plugs out and dried them old boy' i replied. 'yeah but did you burn off the old fuel and carbon from repeated short starting cycles?'  Two minutes later with the help of small plumbers torch and she fired up like a dream. Rode the long way to tesco's to get some supplies.  Not sure what the moral is, either check the small stuff first or talk to old boys more!! What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Dickiebig - 24-02-2021 Excuse me for being thick but where did you apply the flame. Was with the plugs in?? What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - itchyfeet2 - 25-02-2021 Quote:Excuse me for being thick but where did you apply the flame. Was with the plugs in?? No, take the plugs out, hold then in a soft jaw vice, pliers or anywhere that keeps them upright and apply the flame to the electrodes. You will see the carbon/fuel deposits burning off leaving the electrode and top of the treads clean as a whistle. Apparently this is the method engineers use. If you just use a brass brush (as I used to) it can damage the tip and does not clean as effectively as heat. Im not talking glowing red or even close to that, just a few second and the old deposits disappear, the residual heat in the plugs after burning also helps start the bike. Heat the tip to a fresh cherry red with a clean propane/butane burner while measuring the voltage across the wires. When the voltage fluctuates quickly as the tip is in or out of the flame, the sensor is clean and working. Done this multiple times, mostly with good results. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - leehenty - 26-02-2021 Cleaned and charged up battery What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Snowbird - 26-02-2021 mot'd it, no problems, he even looked at it this time..... It was nice to get out on it even for only a fairly local run. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - itchyfeet2 - 26-02-2021 Fitted an old Topbox.  I then went to deliver some bits feeling quite superior with the ease of distribution due to my newly acquired load carrying capacity whilst simultaneously feeling embarrassed at my commuting appearance and general topboxness.  To topbox or not to topbox, that is the question................. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 27-02-2021 Looked at my back tyre, which became punctured while riding back from the shops yesterday. On a dark country road.  RAC were helpful, sent someone to try to plug it but as the tyre bead had come away from the rim it was impossible to reinflate (even with the cargo strap around it technique) ....so another truck arrived an hour later and brought me the remaining 5 miles home.  It's a big shame because the pilot Power 3 was really enjoyable, although over 50% worn now.  While waiting for the truck, I ordered an Angel GT replacement (on Fav's recommendation) which should be here on Monday or Tuesday.. Paid £90  After swapping my panniers over before setting off, guess which ones my puncture repair kit was in . :istupid: What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Snowbird - 27-02-2021 RAC don't have the balls for the easystart & lighter method of getting a tyre bead back on then? Usually works. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 27-02-2021 So we know who to blame if you dont like the Angel GT's then ![]()  Loved mine on the 9r but after trying quite a few brands i'm sticking with Bridgestone, seem to suit me better than most.. He just waved it off "Oh I wouldn't know about that "  At one point he handed me a spray bottle and asked me to apply lube to my rim ......  the things you hear on a TDM900 !
