What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - arthurbikemad - 15-02-2015 Here :- http://www.loomies.co.uk What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - TDMick - 16-02-2015 Only an hour or so away :um: What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - bigfellabuck - 16-02-2015 Quote:did you not have a slice of bread handy on Friday night then buck ?  :dunno:Wish I had of done ramo. would have been nice with a bit of topbox fluff !!! What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - sidarta - 18-02-2015 Hi to all!  The carburetors are dismounted (since 02/12/2015) due to new leak (small) gas. My family traveled and decided to observe the mechanism of external movements of carbs (on 02/17/2015). I always thought the heavy accelerator and now with a tendinitis that bothers me on long trips. Cables and wrist still original and in perfect condition, are new. The idea was to reduce the spring pressure. Only in TDM850 to remove the spring, the carbs should be separated and I found complex for the moment. The easiest, went to work in the spring where he was. With the tip of the screwdriver, I took one of the mounting point of the spring ends. The idea was to get an attachment point below the original. It took hours trying to make an attachment point from a stainless steel wire. After much trial, cuts and folds could manufacture 2. The first, the spring pressure was very close to the original. The second had a little farther pin original fastening point. It was very soft, noting that the carburetors were on a table. I installed the carbs in motocileta only for testing and bingooooooooo. The drive was great. Soft and the return was very good, without compromising security. But the motorcycle was not on, the engine oil was drained and the carbs are not set to work.  After assembly and test (accelerator) the bike on the highway, I will be posting pictures. I do not know if it would be correct to post here, or open a topic.  Still observed: 1) the fluid reservoir hose to the radiator presents dryness. 2) screws of the clips of carbs (admission) should be replaced 3) castings rubbers (right and left) receiving the pins of lateriais fairings are resected. 4) best place to install oil pan (current lubricant) and hose passage leading the oil to the chain. I have a project (Scottoiler - own manufacture)  Cheers! What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - muddy - 18-02-2015 Oiled, filtered, & hopefully assembled correctly(I do dislike piddling about with that filter housing, apart from the cheap filter factor). Too scared to use my new torque wrench as yet, so use feel to tighten the bolts. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - arthurbikemad - 18-02-2015 Defo feel, nip them up is all they need imo, even a quality snap-on torque wrench (not saying that yours in not qual) can easily mislead you into pulling threads, so many people I know think a torque wrench is the end of snapped bolts etc, problem is unlike you they forget to feel whats going on and wait for the click/buzz and ping they snap bolts or strip threads!  Gutted I did not get out today And now they say rain is inbound for the rest of the week...What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - marko67 - 19-02-2015 Quote:Defo feel, nip them up is all they need imo, even a quality snap-on torque wrench (not saying that yours in not qual) can easily mislead you into pulling threads, so many people I know think a torque wrench is the end of snapped bolts etc, problem is unlike you they forget to feel whats going on and wait for the click/buzz and ping they snap bolts or strip threads!Yeah, a nips a nip. The smaller the bolt the smaller the leverage but when it's in it's in. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - muddy - 19-02-2015 Quote:Yeah, a nips a nip. I came off and smashed up my bike and body as a result of not doing the housing up correctly one time. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Staffy - 20-02-2015 I usually use that old fashioned torque wrench with a few different settings on it. The settings are: finger tight, tight, very tight, very very tight, bloody tight, really bloody tight, and ferking tight. Was watching Lyndon Poskitt tightening his nuts with one of THESE.  A mere $1540 US. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - arthurbikemad - 20-02-2015 I have three techwrench by SnapOn, love them but Id opt for feel on my oil filter housing
What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Staffy - 20-02-2015 Yep. I tend to pick and choose when feel suits better than precision. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - RolfieB - 21-02-2015 Oil & filter change. Swapped my radiator guard for a stainless one I've had for a few months (this required drilling off the heads of the screws). .http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/RolfieB/media/Rad%20guard/P1030205_zpsf628721d.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0  What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - bigfellabuck - 21-02-2015 Took her too Asda and filled her up. £19 crackin !!! What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Guest - 21-02-2015 Busy one for me. Would have loved to scoot out for a while but finally got around to fitting the goodies i bought last year ( i picked my bike up last September and haven't ridden much at all since then ).  First up was a dual USB Socket which I picked up from Maplins ( They are on sale again now ) - http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-motorbike-usb-charger-2-port-n73dp?gclid=CIOF5eXl88MCFagfwwodZDYA9Q - solid bit of kit !  I fitted under the seat at the rear section and its mainly for charging a phone on the go or if I ever get the urge I can run a really long extension to it for a sat nav or similar. I wanted it hidden away so that it keeps the externals/dash uncluttered.  I wired it in to a relay and tucked / routed the wiring away all nice and tidy. Its fixed down with the supplied bracket and 3M.  ![]()  ![]()  Next up was a pair of Keis Heated Grips ( Another excellent bit of kit ). I have fitted these to all my recent bikes ( even my last 'blade ! lol ). Again, tidied away the wiring and ran these into the same relay as the USB charger to be on the safe side. I just need to sort out some tidier bar ends as the heated grips are around 20mm shorter than the stock grips. They are toasty though !  ![]()  Nice quick bit of tarting up - an R&G shock tube as the rear spring is in such good nick it would be crazy not to. Really easy install.  ![]()  And last but not least while I had the fairing off doing the grip wiring install I took the opportunity to do the JBX Air Intake mod by popping out the corresponding actuator/solenoid pin from the ECU plug and sealing it up.  All in a good days work !  Cheers Tone What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - muddy - 21-02-2015 Quote:Nice quick bit of tarting up - an R&G shock tube as the rear spring is in such good nick it would be crazy not to. Can he come along and post 1 post with half images of his bike, I mean....lol Where are the full size pictures
What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Guest - 21-02-2015 Haha, less is more, less is more !  Ive been a member for a wee while but just realised that this was my first post. Ill put some pics up in the show off section.  T Quote:Shouldn't that be shock sock haha, it says Shocktube on it - unless I'm missing a joke ! lol ![]() What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - arthurbikemad - 21-02-2015 Ah cool, then the balance is restored
