Put a chain oiler on:

It seems to distribute the oil well across the chain and does not drip on the floor of the garage (so far).

But, as I was passed fast and bluntly by a car after the 1st application of 75W90 oil, I presume they smelled the odor on the exhaust. I must admit this gearbox oil does not smell very nice. Need to obtain a slighter touch... Wink

So how do you adjust/operate it Mipe ?  Also, does it have a makers name ?

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - leehenty - 14-07-2020

75w/90 oil is EP oil and will have lots of sulphur in it. Hence the smell

Ah, that explains a lot, just looked it up. It was a left over from my previous car's geabox oil: 75W90 GL5.

I read that gear oil in general would be suitable, also it's a bit thicker than engine oil, suppose it sticks better to the chain.

You just turn the complete container 90 degrees clockwise, when driving slowly. There is a tread inside it, which makes the container drop, decreasing the internal volume, so the excess oil is forced down the bottom, inside the hose, to the outlet.

It's the exactly the same oiler as the Cobrra Nemo 2, but found this one at AliExpress:

Thought I'd give it a try for that price, and simplicity.

Cheers Steve, does it dump a load of oil on the chain, or is it a slow release jobby ?

You could get rid of the gearbox oil, and fill it with Castrol R, then when it drips onto the exhaust.. 👍👍👍

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - leehenty - 15-07-2020

Oooh we used to add Castrol R to 100cc bikes just for the smell

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - MipeTDM - 15-07-2020

The smell of speed indeed...

for a more pleasing smell, also the semi-sweetness of Ballistol oil would work, however you never know what that might attract, maybe a swarm of bees... :um:

Hoever I found the makeshift smokescreen does indeed serve a purpose, for getting rid of some close followers Lol

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 15-07-2020

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Studley Ramrod - 16-07-2020

I've already got a scottoiler fitted Steve, just curious as to how it worked.  Not sure I'd fancy having another item added to the handlebars.
