A few bumps and scrapes, the only thing really hurt was my pride but the bike is in a sad state. Most of the plastics are buggered, everything held together with gaffer tape. I am really sorry to hear about Tiff. What a crap ending to a really excellent weekend. I do hope that she recovers soon. Big thank you to Chris, Chris and Tony for the help in getting my bike out of the ditch. And big thanks to Scottish farmers wife (name unknown) for the loan of Isuzu 4x4 and tow rope. I hope everyone else made it home in one piece. See you all next year. September G2g 2010 - TDMick - 13-09-2010 best wishes to the walking wounded! take care u guys! September G2g 2010 - agrantg - 13-09-2010 Hi Colin, Glad to hear you're ok and sorry to hear about the bike. I've got 2 side panels which you are welcome to. Colour's obviously wrong but they are only scratched and not cracked or broken. A muppet knocked me off my bike doing a U-turn when in standing traffic. Insurance paid so they were replaced and I made sure I held on to the old ones. Your need is obviously greater than mine. Was great to meet you and everyone else. I really enjoyed the weekend. I damm near got blown off my bike this morning outside Torness Power Station on the A1. It was so windy I diverted to an inland route to avoid the area around Berwick. Looking forward to the next outing. Roll on the Mega Treff. I've already booked. Hope some of us can go en-masse. Will be putting a tip on riding in Germany on the correct thread. Ride safe. September G2g 2010 - JohnnyW - 13-09-2010 Hey Colin & Tiff, Sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations on the way home from what was another great get-together. Glad to hear that you both survived without too much damage. Could have been a lot worse than a broken finger and some broken plastic. Get well soon. Johnny W September G2g 2010 - Bobajob - 13-09-2010 Sorry to hear that Colin and Tiff had a spill and hope you are both ok. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and spent today boring everyone at work with my TDM tales. Thanks to all for making me feel so welcome, it was great to meet you all and put faces to names. The rides were excellent with truly stunning scenery especially for me when Dandy took AliG and I through Tomintoul to Braemar and out through Glenshee which I had never been on before but plan to do again very soon. Just shy of 700 miles, 0.5 litres of oil, 55mpg and one sore arse. It's a bugger being on the top bunk Thanks also to Johnny, Tony and Dandy who tell me my engine isn't fecked after all but just needs some TLC. I feel a fettle day coming soon. Thanks again and hope to see you all again soon. Bob Some pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
September G2g 2010 - Tiff - 14-09-2010 Thanks everyone so much. Definately worth braking a few bones for! I can't wait to come on the next one. Now in recovery truck. Only another 6 hours or so to go. In yesterdays soggy bike clothes & a sling. 2 student doctors, 6 hours & 5 xrays later, & I'm gonna have to have it pinned when I get home. Thanks to Tony & Chris, even being in hospital was a laf! Love u guys!!! X September G2g 2010 - ChrisG - 14-09-2010 Keep stopping every 15 minutes to put waterproofs on or take them off, it's a bit changeable! The Dutch lads obviously got the Guzzi going again, we just passed them in Alston September G2g 2010 - Matlock - 14-09-2010 Home safe & sound after an appalling ride home - high winds, torrential rain & mist from Blairgowrie to about Preston, I was truly fooked by the time I got home. Sorry to hear about Tiff's off, hope you & the bike mend OK. Fatchap's bike held together on the way home, but I think he's got a bit of work to do with the Airfix glue to get his bike straight I'll post up some pics later. September G2g 2010 - The Thigh - 14-09-2010 Sorry to hear you guys had a mishap, on the positive side your both safe and sound apart from Tiff's finger hope it's not the one you give to inconsiderate car drivers! Hope you both heal quickly physically and more especially mentally as it does knock your confidence when you have an off no matter how small. Get back on the beast and show it who's the master or mistress in Tiffs' case! September G2g 2010 - bigboat0 - 14-09-2010 Good to hear you are both ok, that`s a crap ending to the weekend! Wishing you both a speedy return to your bikes! September G2g 2010 - peterkelly - 14-09-2010 Just back safe and sound from our ride down in appalling weather (very high winds and torrential rain squalls). Sorry to hear about Tiff's off, and also Colin's, and hope everyone is OK. ATB Pete .............will post some pics soon September G2g 2010 - amarko5 - 14-09-2010 ![]() ![]() September G2g 2010 - Matlock - 14-09-2010 My pics are here: LinkyDinky. Not many I'm afraid, the camera was acting up a bit before Aviemore and leaving it in my topbox overnight with my wet waterproofs didn't help matters. Another fantastic weekend at Aviemore, many thanks to Joe for organising it. The rideouts were sensational, especially the Saturday run up to the North West. Highlights for me: The north west rideout - stunning scenery once the rain had gone and you could see it. Mind you, when the rain went, the midges arrived. The roads over the Caerngorms. In fact, great roads everywhere. Fast open stretches, nadgery little lanes and everything in between. Andrew, the bloke who rescued Pete after his puncture. Restores your faith in human nature. The company, as usual a great time was had on & off the bikes. Good to see old friends and meet some new ones. Real ale in every pub we went to (after the bike was parked for the night of course) Low points: Fatchap's & Tiff's accidents. Hope both make a full recovery. The ride home from Blairgowrie to Preston - cold, wet and gale force wind. That was me, but the weather was even worse. Midges/rain. Pete's puncture. Fatchap's snoring (for those who forgot to wear their earplugs at night) Cholesterol. My arteries may never recover. Somehow spending a £138 on fuel in 4 days. Was someone syphoning my tank at night? Thanks again to Joe & everyone for making it such a great trip. |
