What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - leehenty - 21-04-2020 So you want a few spacers and screws to play with then What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - chrisbee - 21-04-2020 Quote:So you want a few spacers and screws to play with then I was just wondering if anyone had tried different angles.. but yes, i need some spacers. I was going to trial the experiment by using washers What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - bjorge - 25-04-2020 Took carbs off the old cow, poor thing she was covered in web cobs... 2 years since I touched it. Isn't it better to do fuel level adjustment on the bench? Cos, I know they are way out so quite a few rounds reqired, I guess... Btw, what do you do with a nearly full tank of petrol being 2 yrs old? Or add it to a full tank of diesel if you've got one in the family A very good idea! I put it in the car, 5 liters at a timeð Thanks! What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Alekre - 25-04-2020 Maybe its not worth to open new topic, lets discuss here:  My TDM900 is 2003. and i found OEM Sumitomo brake pads at maybe 60% of life. Bolts are untouched so maybe low mileage is real. Good so far!  The reason i decided to swtich pads is that bike is braking poorly. That Sumitomo blue spots are know for fearsome brakes and mine were not performing good.  Unfortunately after cleaning caliper pistons and new pads (Brembo SA), wheel doesnt spin freely. I dissasembled pads again and added a bit DOT4 on pistons to unseize them and now is better. But that is not solution and brakes arent at 100% fit even they bite awesome now. On monday i will order new sets of seals for both calipers and replace them. Not all pistons are partialy seized but job like this can be done partialy.  To whom who consider changing brake pads i strongly suggest to do seals right away.  Second topis is i tried and failed to install new handlebar. Its full aluminium MOTACC.  Problem occured that this superbike handlebar is to low so handguards and brake hose doesnt have enough clearence. Both down and forward because handguard touch so no full lock.  Anyway i ridden bike without handguards and i was like WTF motorcycle transformed into. New alu handlebar is more sturdy, no flex, no resonating and leverage was awesome. Handlebar is lowered but i have long hands so now im not like praying mantis. Front end is more stable with awesome feedback. This i think is mostly due body position is more forward so there is more weight on front. Noticeably i was faster and more secure in turns.  So i think aftermarket handlebar is must have and real improvement for 900.  ![]()  ![]()  Usualy if something doesnt fit my 900 100% or im not satisfied with quality i discard those items. Because, few of this minors will make whole bike junk at the end.  But in this case i realy like how it handles so i will try to solve clearence issues with handlebar risers.  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32771754617.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.773c3c00p8WMKL&mp=1  This lift about 50mm. Considering how low superbike handlebar i think it will be almost like stock one so cables shouldnt be issue. It also could lean it bit to me so i can have clearence for handguards. If this works, i will order some original Rox risers or MOTACC. They are hefty price but l will order it when my wife doesnt notice ![]()  If someone have this setup, let me know what to expect. If this fail, i think Renthal 755 is safe and straigforward option? What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 25-04-2020 You know i've stripped seals twice on Blue spots only to find the seals were in perfectly good condition, you sure you dont have a warp or need to clean bobbins, you also need to get some heat into Brembo sa pads for them to work effectively... What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Norwegian - 25-04-2020 Hi, I have those risers, only in black, with a Rental 755 also in black. I have shifted the bar forward and have the same experience you describe - more forward, more weight on the front wheel feels a lot better. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - chrisr - 25-04-2020 The brakes should improve when the new pads are bedded in What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Alekre - 25-04-2020 Sure, but piston were problematic. I will clean them once again but with brake cleaner. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Alekre - 27-04-2020 Quote:You know i've stripped seals twice on Blue spots only to find the seals were in perfectly good condition, you sure you dont have a warp or need to clean bobbins, you also need to get some heat into Brembo sa pads for them to work effectively... Hey,  i listened your advice. There is high chance you are right.  Today i removed pads, pumped the caliper pistons and give them a good blast with TRW brake cleaner. Then i cleaned them with soft cloth. Every piston each, then i pumped them, push them back by hand till they feel right. Now it visible how piston pushes forward and slighty return after it. Now i just need mileage for pads to bed in and should be fine. I hope pistons will not seize when temperature rises due to braking.  Anyway, that caliper cleaning should be done more often and i dont know why i didnt do this before on my past motorcycles. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Catteeclan - 27-04-2020 I like to use brake fluid. Pump out a piston about half way one at a time, drop some fluid on and clean it off with a rag, rotate so you can get to the other side and same again. Drop a bit of fluid on before pushing the piston back in for lubrication then start on the next one. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 27-04-2020 I hope pistons will not seize when temperature rises due to braking.  Perhaps change the brake fluid as well then if not done yet, the Bluespots/Silverspots definatley need servicing more frequently, generally i find them not to be problematic if done often enough....mine were stripped recently also and just fitted.. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - bjorge - 02-05-2020 Started the old cow for tve first time in some 2 years ð. Sounds good, needed a little choke but not for long - perfect! Seems the fuelling (pump and floats) is about right. Done for today, test ride tomorrow. What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - drewpy - 03-05-2020 somebody loves me;  stripping the engine to replace the head and cam chain.  went to undo the bolts holding the cam wheels on and one bolt just pulled away, it wasn't even screwed in :unsure2:  could have been nasty if the dropped off which I'm sure it would have done.  I did use thread lock and all the other bolts were tight.  Dodged that bullet :bag: What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - alanfavell - 03-05-2020 Lotto time :good: What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 03-05-2020 Oiks, that would not have ended well, good find... What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 03-05-2020 well saved What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - SeizedBalt - 06-05-2020 Not sure if it goes in this thread as I didn't do anything to my TDM, but with my TDM. First solo ride of any substance. After my Transalp all I can say is that I can feel the 60% extra power.  And it inspires a ton of confidence in the twisties.   Cut my journey time from 1'30" to about 1' 2"! That's 28min off the journey time by car and I didn't even overtake much! It just chewed up the open road.  Very easy to go faster than strictly permitted too....  Any doubts I might have had about buying it would have evaporated by now. |
