I'll hazard a guess the stem is nowhere near fitting and i will have to do something with that, but I will sort it

Wouldn't a length of 4"x4" wood make a more stable leg, or is the idea to ride the whole workbench down the road?  :dunno:

its custom innit  Lol

I can also confirm to the internet (as no one appears to have done it yet) that the later multistrada 1200 mazzochi front wheel and discs are a straight swap into the earlier 1000s and 1100s forks. Which is good news for me!

having had a good mooch about and measure, the fork legs are pretty much identical in size to the original TDM900 forks. The bars are lower and flatter, but the risers from the top yokes are taller and pretty much cancel the defecit out. I think once I check out what I need to do with the stem, then they should just bolt straight up

It'll be nice to know the result of this, I still think about trying out the KTM forks on the 900 but end up still wanting to ride the KTM instead so it ain't gonna happen soon !

Not sure when I will be performing the swap as that would mean all my bikes are then off the road. I might do it when the weather turns.

So, do the Ohlins forks fit onto the 9'er without and modding ?  Can't imagine you'd do anything so straightforward Ian. Big Grin

They are the same length, the head angle of the tdm is 26 degrees, the multi is 25 degrees. The specs are really close. just visually checking the multi looks to have a slightly bigger fork offset, which will make the bike slightly livelier steering, but still more stable than the multistrada it came off.

I think the only think I am going to have to do it modify the steering stem so it will fit into the tdm frame.

I am think about cutting sleeving and welding the stem.

Winter Project - coxylaad - 12-09-2022

So,  changes are afoot. I have acquired a super low mileage triumph sprint 105 engine ans rolling chassis, and I am thinking about building a new version of a custom road adventure bike.

Basically means the TDM is going to be up for sale soon.

If anyone is interested in what I would boldy describe as the most sorted TDM900 in the country then let me know

Winter Project - coxylaad - 20-09-2023

Well, its happened (actually happened a month ago) Ive sold the TDM.

It's currently still in my garage waiting to be picked up,  Going to a very good home and it will be well looked after.

I'll still hang around here as I have a project planned for the distant future to fit a triumph 1050 engine into a mk1 tdm. Already got 95% of the parts so its going to happen!

Good luck to the new owner - that bike has great pedigree and a great engine - I see it still has the ex Pict Akra cans - incredibly, they alone boosted the power at 5000 rpm by 10 bhp - just in such a nice, sweet spot and great for the occasional front end rise (the bike I mean of course)  :pimp:

Winter Project - Studley Ramrod - 28-09-2023

3 guesses as to who bought it lol.

Winter Project - ramotdm - 28-09-2023
