Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - fixitsan - 30-07-2022 Quote:  Ahhh well spotted.  I'ld read reports that the early 690's had fewer vibes than the 640, and knew one model cut in included the second shaft. Jumped to conclusions !  It's certainly got a better seat than a 640 anyway ! He was around yesterday telling me about electric turbo's which spin up to 35'000 rippums. Once the top end has been stripped and checked he will make the call on traditional or electric. Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - Snowbird - 30-07-2022 Cb125 twins had the classic honda chocolate cams to start with, turbo's is pure madness, but I already like the idiot so buy him a beer for me, and find a place in a nice asylum with a good bar.... Slowly restoring/modifying.  Suspension done, motor rebuilt in 2022 (bored 2x OS, pistons, pins, rings, valves, springs, seals, exhaust guides, head decked) rebuilt carbs, new ignition coil, etc. Caliper rebuild next.  My 07 KLR 650 is waiting for help. Bought new. 170,000 miles. Modified early in its life. Bored to 685 forged piston. Head ported/polished, OS stainless valves, bronze guides. Custom suspension shop shock, Cartridge emulators and custom fork springs, fork brace. Excel rims, stainless spokes. Britannia Composites fairing. Seat Concepts seat. Pro Taper bars. LED headlights. Barnett clutch springs. and a few other things  KLR is tired. Plan to resleeve/bore to 705 next year, service the shock. Everything else is in spec/maintained.  The TDM was beat when I got it but I still thought it was great. Now all new top end, comparing how it runs to how it ran when I bought it, I will never need another bike. The TDM is it. Great motor, great bike. ![]() Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - Snowbird - 26-10-2022 Gonna need some piccies I recon. Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - Studley Ramrod - 26-10-2022 Just bought 2 bikes and had them delivered on Monday. A 1991 TDM850, 6,700 miles, all original and a 1981 XJ650 shaftie. Both need work so should satisfy my fettlin' needs for a good while.  [attachment=o15042] Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - chrisbee - 27-10-2022 Quote:Just bought 2 bikes and had them delivered on Monday. A 1991 TDM850, 6,700 miles, all original and a 1981 XJ650 shaftie. Both need work so should satisfy my fettlin' needs for a good while. That Mk1 looks nice ðððð Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - dablik - 27-10-2022 Lovely Ian, a fully working mk1 gearbox !! remember how to ride it  shaftie is nice as well, do they need much doing ?Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - alanfavell - 27-10-2022 Nice buys SR :good: XJ will make a great rally / tourer  Off topic (not really).... mancave needs treatment (and a door), by the look of it.......Sadolin durable.... not cheap but lasts years (applied 2 coats to my new shed and it's still good 7 years later), much better than fence paint. Anyone Have A Projects On The Go? - Studley Ramrod - 27-10-2022 Quote:That Mk1 looks nice I was helping Mole get some of Wicky's bike stuff sorted and the mk1 kinda grew on me as I worked on it, had to have it.  Quote:Lovely Ian, a fully working mk1 gearbox !! remember how to ride it 5 fookin gears not 4.5 eh. Mk1 needs a deep clean and a few jobs, paint fork lowers, sort out fuel lines etc, depending how far I want to take it really. The Xj650, I'll probably just get it running sweet, sort out any mechanical needs, give it a good clean and run as is for now. Quote:Nice buys SR Been thinking it might be a good bike to take abroad. ![]() |
