Boop<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> This is wearing my map collection pretty thin... latest news from the dasterdly duo - dandywarhol - 02-08-2006 Next instalment from Czech-Polish border.................... Watched an afternoon,s ĺocal racing at Brno on Sunday - missed last week WSB round - and on the way back to our apartmënt I could hear the 900 timing chain rattling on light throttle. There,s been a few postings about chain noise and modified tensioners but this was getting on my goat.......... I could remember that you,d to set the crank at position T on the firing stroke to adjust the chain but I somehow fecked up and the inlet cam jumped it,s teeth on the chain With moral support from Dapleb and borrowing grandma,s basin to catch the coolant we began to strip the camcover off and reset the cam timing.............the inlet cam had jumped around 6 teeth A few turns of the crank by hand made sure nothing touched followed by a spin on the starter motor - everything was fine A flashlight and headtorch assisted the rebuild, refilled with coolant and pressed the button................the motor started and ran fine............................until it warmed up and the fast idle control came off...............the fecker would,t idle anda spin up the road showed it lackëd power - but not at all times Next day and a trip to the local internet cafe and a trip to JBX,s website for the ECU codes. - excellent info JBX Nothing showed up as a fault code so I tried a hard reset by disconnecting the battery..................problem solved - all I can come up with for an answer is that by spinning the engine over on the starter with the camshaft cylinder identification sensor disconnected confused the ECU and it went into limp home default until it was reset. Alls fine now although the chain still rattles like a bassad on light throttle - but that can wait til I get home Might get a thrash round the Nurburgring on the way home Ohhh.............forgot to mention, the Givi topbox mount cracked with all the rough riding and a few kilos more weight than recommended - probably on Bulgarian roads - a Swiss Road Racing Team who were at a week,s track event at Brno came up with the goods and tie wired the mount to the frame as a get-me-home..............all in all, an eventful day latest news from the dasterdly duo - duibhceK - 02-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12816:date=Wed 2nd Aug 2006, 12:23 PM:name=dandywarhol)-->QUOTE(dandywarhol @ Wed 2nd Aug 2006, 12:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Ohhh.............forgot to mention, the Givi topbox mount cracked with all the rough riding and a few kilos more weight than recommended - probably on Bulgarian roads - a Swiss Road Racing Team who were at a week,s track event at Brno came up with the goods and tie wired the mount to the frame as a get-me-home..............all in all, an eventful day That sounds very familiar it happened to me on the excellently maintained French roads. I also fixed it with some rope. latest news from the dasterdly duo - wicklamulla - 02-08-2006 WELL HERE ARE 2 TEXTS I HAD FROM FOREIGN SHORES..... LOL....Eccles just made coffee....took a big swig and his face gurned & gobbed back into the cup and ran to the sink, he used salt instead of sugar baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!! LOL............sometimes when karma kick in it serves you a double, AE tried to adjust the cam chain and it jumped a few teeth, bike came to bits to reset the timing, took all evening. latest news from the dasterdly duo - Guest - 02-08-2006 I told ya I'd get ya back AE, it took some doing to put salt in yer coffee and mess up yer cam chain from Edinburgh latest news from the dasterdly duo - dapleb - 08-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12894:date=Wed 2nd Aug 2006, 06:33 PM:name=Emmett)-->QUOTE(Emmett @ Wed 2nd Aug 2006, 06:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I told ya I'd get ya back AE, it took some doing to put salt in yer coffee and mess up yer cam chain from Edinburgh We is now at MrGs hooose. Approx 5000 miles in total, although the map says less we spent a bit of time off the route when we were stopped at each location In my case, I left with the oil tank slightly overfilled and returned with the oil tank slightly overfilled Approx. 700ml of scottoil Rear Z6 has done nearly 6000 miles and still good Best fuel consumption 64 mpg, averaged over 55 Both the above figures due to a self imposed speed limit of 65/70 on a roads and apart from the run back from Guinness' to the ferry we did less than 100 miles of motorways Best bits - all of it Worst bit - hmmmm, difficult to think of one - probably the climb into the Alps on day 2...miserabley cold and v. wet - white finger and tired / hungry. All soon forgotten about when tucking into a meal of alpine proportions latest news from the dasterdly duo - wicklamulla - 20-08-2006 thats mighty impressive, if i ever go that far oil need to remortgage and invest in Opec.... |
