TDM 900 RECALL - Guinness - 21-10-2006

got the letter in the mail yesterday, from the importer (d'Ieteren Sport) concerning my 900'05.
"safety recall"

i'll swing by the dealer this week. he'lll have to fix it and guessing he'll get stuck with the tab.
mine is still under full warranty, wonder if it covers the workcost.

I went to my dealer today and confirmed that my bike needs the recall. The entering of my bike details constituted an order - my dealer doesn't keep them in stock.

Thanks. Mine is in there. I've noticed a bit of a variable idle (1000-1100 rpm) so I'll have to hunt out my local Yammi dealer. I'm the third owner, and got it from a Suzuki dealer, so I guess I won't get the recall letter.

are them numbers 4 zeros at the start or 5 ??
methinks mine is in there also

TDM 900 RECALL - Guest - 25-10-2006

I spoke to the dealer today (got the letter and called) and he's telling me that Yamaha aren't restricting to certain frame numbers now, that they will do all bikes (but doesn't apply to 2006 models - Yamaha had sorted it by then apparently)

I pretty confident that Orwell would have this right they are a big big dealer - apparently they have at least 150 bikes they have to do, from units they've sold, and about another 50-100 from others that want to use them (that's me that is)

Must be costing Yamaha a packet!

TDM 900 RECALL - jbx - 26-10-2006

The recall is on the way in France too.

My local dealer has 200 TDM to fix ! [Image: blink.gif]

Fortunately, mine has never had the problem, & is not on the frame numbers quoted above. [Image: banana.gif]

I think it should be 5 zeros. When I phoned the dealer they didn't want the frame no, sounds like they will be doin em all!

cool time to visit my dealer and see what he says.

i have had a problem from day one with the 9ner to be honest setting off from cold the revs drop sharpish and she can stall. and also recently i aint had the rev rise when starting on cold days (ie autochoke) so i tink it may be fooked [Image: smile.gif]

TDM 900 RECALL - LIAW - 27-10-2006

mine has never had a problem with tickover, I was kind of hoping there would be a recall to fit better clutches though.

anyway if my bike ever shows any strange symptoms, I just point towards the hacksaw while looking it sternly in the headlights and the bike behaves itself

I recently had to unseize my cold start, it was solid. There should be about 20mm movement in the brass bar with the spring on it. I sprayed mine with plus gas but had to give it a thump with a mallet and a block of wood as it was stuck fast in the warmed up position. It's AOK now. But I have heard the wax element inside can fail though... [Image: sad.gif]

TDM 900 RECALL - duibhceK - 27-10-2006

allright! I had the TPS replaced this morning. Was a little more work than both the dealer and I had anticipated but all in all it went smoothly ('twas the first TDM he replaced the TPS on). When using a screwdriver that can go around corners the TPS can be replaced simply by lifting the tank, but also removing the airbox makes the job a whole lot easier.

Both the TPS and the work are paid for by Yamaha. [Image: good.gif]

And the new TPS seems to do the trick. Rock solid steady idle revs and no more stalling (although it did that only occasionaly before to).

TDM 900 RECALL - AL-58 - 27-10-2006

The recall is on in Oz as well, I recieved my letter today. It hadn't been publicised at all so I wasnt sure if it was happening. The bike hasn't had any idling or stalling problems to date, but they'll update it anyway.

TDM 900 RECALL - Stunts - 27-10-2006

Mines going in this afternoon to be done. I'm not changing a thing before it goes in - the airbox mod is staying. I'll see what happens and let y'all know.

TDM 900 RECALL - Stunts - 29-10-2006

Had mine done yesterday - I took the fairings off to re-route my intercome cable that had been put back correctly and noticed that the spanner monkey hadn't actually tightened the bolts that hold the fuel tank on [Image: blink.gif] [Image: blink.gif] Needless to say I shall be having a word!!! Bike itself feels no different.
