D-ring Helmet Fasteners - duibhceK - 16-05-2012 During our track day trainings we regularly do a test of how well the helmet fasteners are adjusted before we let the riders on the track. The VAST majority of the riders with a buckle helmet have way to much free play on the strap. I am talking room for 2 or 3 fingers when you pull on it. With DD the statistics are a lot better. Although there are riders that do not tension those correctly either. The buckle type fasteners are imho not inherintly less safe (at least not on any of the A-brand helmets). If and only if the rider regularly checks and adjusts the tension on the strap. Because they do tend to get more slack quite quickly. D-ring Helmet Fasteners - TKH - 16-05-2012 I like how quick and easy the seat belt type are (got one on my HJC) but find I can never get them consistently tight enough for my liking thus my vote is the d rings. D-ring Helmet Fasteners - ChrisG - 17-05-2012 Holy thread resurection Batman! It doesn't have to be either or. My Schuberth has a quick release ratchet jobbie, so you do it up tightly like a D ring but undo it as easily as a seat belt type. D-ring Helmet Fasteners - buzz750 - 18-05-2012
