Patoota Help Required - amarko5 - 22-06-2010 <!--quoteo(post=167149:date=Tue 22nd Jun 2010, 12:49 PM:name=maximuspetrolhead)-->QUOTE(maximuspetrolhead @ Tue 22nd Jun 2010, 12:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Interesting....... may have to investigate this route<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> steam is out for linux and osx i believe Patoota Help Required - dapleb - 22-06-2010 Tried 60+ passwords in various upper and lower case combinations.....in the end I accidentally highlighted the "restore to previous known worky settings"........seems I missed that option ....so clicked on that and bingo bango bongo it all came back. Once in I found that I didnt even set a bloody password so why leaving it blank didnt let me do a "repair" thing I don't know...but probably just as well it didnt. Now my password is admin ...and my password reminder "YOUR PW is admin" lolxzz <b>Do I need to do oubt before I shut this badger down again????</b> Patoota Help Required - Studley Ramrod - 22-06-2010 Glad to hear ya got there I also run XP and I'm not allowed to view certain files as I don't have the authority ITS MY F**KIN COMP FFS ! Did you sort out the virus ? Patoota Help Required - dapleb - 22-06-2010 Not even sure there was one SR.....its possible that the antivirus just picked up a .sys file by mistake....not sure. I would run the "quick scan" again but aint brave enough yet. Might leaf the PC on till I have a clue as to whats gonna happen when its turned bacon. Maybe I should change back to AVG.....can't work out if AVAST is actually scanning for me or not unless its forced to manually. Patoota Help Required - dapleb - 22-06-2010 Ohhh yeah got virus....AVAST apparently cannot delete it. Its called: <b>ALUREON-FZ</b> (sounds loike it should be a toothpaste to me) and aparently leads to booting problems....gulp! AVAST can identify it but not actually do anything about it! Am searching google for solutions but its all written in Swahili for people who know what they are doing! Any help please and thank you? Patoota Help Required - Studley Ramrod - 22-06-2010 Oooooh, nervy times ! At least you know what to do if it goes tits up again Be Brave young man ! EDIT: Damn ! Just read your last post. Patoota Help Required - Studley Ramrod - 22-06-2010 Some info here from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/T...tID=-2147342498 Patoota Help Required - amarko5 - 22-06-2010 quoted from MS Win32/Alureon is a family of data-stealing trojans. These trojans allow an attacker to intercept incoming and outgoing Internet traffic in order to gather confidential information such as user names, passwords, and credit card data. The Win32/Alureon trojan may also allow an attacker to transmit malicious data to the infected computer. The trojan may modify DNS settings on the host computer to enable the attacker to perform these tasks. Therefore it may be necessary to reconfigure DNS settings after the trojan is removed from the computer. Win32/Alureon may also infect and corrupt certain driver files, causing them to become unusable. Patoota Help Required - amarko5 - 22-06-2010 your not the only one wid this problem Dappers read here http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...p;mode=threaded interestingly the same pci.sys file ehh methinks you would be better off reformatting and starting again try malwarebytes but read these threads as well response number 1 in this one http://www.computing.net/answers/security/...uter/28868.html its a nasty one that it could have a rootkid backdoor trojan with its own server built in http://www.articlesbase.com/security-artic...ts-2560829.html Patoota Help Required - davida - 22-06-2010 <!--quoteo(post=167210:date=Tue 22nd Jun 2010, 08:22 PM:name=dapleb)-->QUOTE(dapleb @ Tue 22nd Jun 2010, 08:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Not even sure there was one SR.....its possible that the antivirus just picked up a .sys file by mistake....not sure. Tightwad! I found that the free versions of AVG and Avast allowed you to set up routine scanning but didn't actually do anything. I had to manually start scans. However this was some years ago and they may have changed now. Patoota Help Required - dapleb - 23-06-2010 No one wants a backdoor trojan! Patoota Help Required - Studley Ramrod - 23-06-2010 <!--quoteo(post=167280:date=Wed 23rd Jun 2010, 09:25 AM:name=dapleb)-->QUOTE(dapleb @ Wed 23rd Jun 2010, 09:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->No one wants a backdoor trojan! <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Not even the 9'er guys ? Patoota Help Required - markallinson - 23-06-2010 I use AVG Free (and Zonealarm Free) and touch wood, oh er missus, it's worked fine for me. Regular scans, sometimes have to turn them off if I'm busy! Patoota Help Required - dapleb - 16-07-2010 My backdoor trojan is gone...and it feels a darn site more comfy without it! Had to reformat in the end as no one seemed to know how to get rid safely. Alot of the Malware programs either didnt recognise it or couldnt do anything about it. It is not at all bothered by AVG, AVAST ....and all the other virus programs I have ever heard of. Nice to have a fresh start on the PC every now and then anyway. Just having to search my pea brain to work out how I solved all the little glitches that ocurred last time I started from scratch. |
