- works fine - [/quote]

I'm lost Sidey, can't work out what telling someone you have sent a PM does? They should know as the system works perfectly now.

If you have a question for a seller, then EITHER PM the question to the seller or post the question in the sale thread. Probably more useful in the sale thread as others will prolly be wondering the answers to any quessies too.

If you want to inform every other Carpe member (i.e not keep it private) that you are interested in an item then post up your interest or MINE MINE MINE seagulls loike Tony used to.

To post up to the whole of Carpe that you have sent a PM, even "PM about squirls" will only ever add confusion over the above options and since we have already had complaints about fur snail threads going a bit adrift, it seems avoiding confuzzlement would be the way to go.

Moved this oot of Heavies thread as it sounds loike he's got enough on his plate at the mo.

To be fair, the GS lot ARE like a load of Seagulls - stuff posted up for sale can go in minutes ! So accepted procedure is to send a PM, then confirm on the for sale thread that you've expressed an interest.

Others generally follow, stating second or third 'dibs' on the item so the confirmation posts then show where everyone is in the pecking order if the first one two can't agree terms.

Keeps things interesting - I'm not saying you should do it, but it seems to work on there. <img src='http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/good.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' />

Yeah dibs and seagulling I can understand why that might be posted (and has frequently on Carpe), generally Carpedians don't loike treadin on each others toes. Its just the informing of the entire website that you have sent a PM that defies logic and makes me wonder what has broken now,

But this is ignoring the important issue, how much does Dappers want for his squirrel?

Pm Sent - dapleb - 28-01-2013

<img src='http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Lol' /> Not fur sale, its the rare purple edition. That's helpful

Pm Sent - dapleb - 26-03-2013

Please donut reply "PM sent" in fur sale ads.  It can only cause confusion about what is still available.

Pm Sent - markallinson - 26-03-2013

PM sent means I've sent a PM, it's a little reminder to check the PM box as sometimes they go unanswered. that is all, it's not a claim that the item in question is now mine etc.

This is common practice on lots of forums.

I wudda thought that most people selling or buying stuff would have enough intelligence to realise that they would need to check their PM folder on a frequent basis.  If someone doesn't respond to a PM, send them another PM to remind them, simples !

Pm Sent - markallinson - 26-03-2013

Some time ago I posted a poll as to whether we should implement some rules regarding selling,

http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/index.php?showtopic=25157&hl=

The result was no,

So is this a change of heart?

Pm Sent - dapleb - 26-03-2013

Yeth.

Pm Sent - markallinson - 26-03-2013

Christ I'm bored of this now.

Make up some rules for us to follow then.....

Pfft

Pm Sent - muddy - 21-03-2014

Never saw this, so was confused when post was removed--an odd outcome for something that's meant to remove confustion. Seems a bit pedantic to write 'interest shown' or whatever rather than 'pm sent'. It's just peeing down a marker of intent after all. But this is 21 Century democracy I suppose.

Pm Sent - dapleb - 21-03-2014

Mayhaps its coincidence or due to udder factors but the For Sale section has been far more pleasant of late with fewer complaints....red rag meet bull. Smile

don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but the only friction I saw in the For Sale section was to do with 'make an offer' sales pitches. No bull here, I just say it as I see it.

Pm Sent - muddy - 21-03-2014

Anyway, how very dare you. Next you'll be saying I'm argumentative and contrary Rolleyes

Pm Sent - dapleb - 21-03-2014

Lol  We wouldnt want ya any other way Muddy.  The red rag and bull thang was aimed at me tempting fate by saying things are goin well. :unsure2:
