Finished the aux wiring/distribution board/fusebox build & began disassembly of TDM for fitment of same. I'll do the shims while it is stripped, as a couple of inlets were tight but serviceable last year. CSM, throttle bodies blah blah adjusting/service too.

Having a bridgestone battlax T30 evo fitted on the front on saturday, changing from a sportmax 2 that decided to go out of shape and cause some wobbles

Anyone use the evo's  ?

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - dablik - 20-03-2019

Yea one of our members uses Evo's, in Oz i think, seem to recall very good review of them though.

I changed to a pair of Battlax Sport Touring T31 about six weeks ago.  Felt good for the first 250km, had the rear edge to edge on the Putty Road in a group ride with friends.  Unfortunately a combination of gravel road, a big ditch and target fixation stopped my testing of the tyres.   Bike should be back this week and the plate in my clavicle should be good in about two months.

Ouch, but lucky you got a plate on the clavicle. Mine went pop in September and they left it to heal is it's crazy angle, so I've now got a huge lump of new bone growth sticking through my shirt where new bone has grown to fill the gap.. Doctor said if it causes any serious issues they can just break it again and plate it !   I wish they'd have plated it because the new joint kept breaking every few days, just by moving my arm or rolling over in my sleep...it stings a bit !

Using my second pair of T30 evo`s now. When the are due for replacement, I will have Pirelli Angel GT`s fitted. The Pirelli`s perform better in the wet, and have less `discomfort/feeling of sliding` when passing a bitumen repair on an asphalt road in the wet.

But the T30 evo`s most certainly aren`t a bad choice in my opninion.

Spent the morning at Steve Jordan motorcycles in Bookham. After trying to remap my pc3 Steve decided it wasn’t working at all and took it off, he then had a think and another go at fitting it and found that some idiot (!) had managed to fit it wrongly, after a couple of hours of remapping the result is a perfectly smooth TDM with no snatching whatsoever, I’m finally very happy with my newish bike! In my defence the plugs/sockets I fitted it to were the same fitting and colour (which had been changed by Yamaha since my 04 bike)

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - JMC - 23-03-2019

Got the evo fitted on the front today, the rear has only 1700km on it and it feels like a new bike super handling again Smile

I also had a good look at the tracer gt, the fairings do look a bit cheap and it's a bit expensive at only 2 grand less than a full spec africa twin

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Karpo - 26-03-2019

Just fitted Barkbusters Storm S1 set on my 9er. Web page said they wouldn't fit the 2010 model, but lo and behold, they did.

I did have to partially dismount right mirror assembly to slide the clamp under the brake fluid reservoir. Easy enough.

Now to wait for a rainy day to really test them out. Today I'll have to settle for wind gusts of over 50km/h. I can already tell these are much better than the 4€ eBay hand guards I tried first. Big Grin

Earlier last week I also managed to remove most of the snatchiness on low load sustained revs by simply adjusting the CO settings much leaner. Should have tried that earlier. Doh!

Re- done 3 puncture's on the Rear tyre using Stop & Go Pocket Tyre Plugged Kit - previously used Cargol Turn + Go but had a slow leak

Then took it for a spin around Loch Lomond

On the way Home it Spat out the R / Hand Spark Plug @ 70 mph on the outside lane of A9 heading up hill between Stirling + Perth

Limped home on One Cylinder

No obvious damage - Will have better look tomorrow

That's really unlucky. Did you go all the way back to Dundee like that ? Good going if you did !

Yeah

Rode all the way home like that

Mainly because I didn't have a clue about what was wrong

The Bike was making a hell of a noise , fuel light came on so stopped in Perth and stuck 6 quid in 20 miles later fuel light on again !

Went to Skinner's motorcycle's as soon as I got to Dundee he reckoned that the plug threads may be stripped but it would be a week or two before he could have a Proper look !

So just nursed it home and Will check it myself

I think the colour of the hydrodipped parts clashes with the nice dark galaxy blue of the other panels but it's good enough until I find another idea Smile

This was the upper fairing before I used hot staples and 3D printed brackets to repair it

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Andy25 - 30-03-2019

Nice work Fixitsan

Well today I put the spark plug back in - nowt only firing on one cylinder

So plug out new plug in changed plug cap back to original etc- cos I had been struggling to get cap on then off then I managed to pull the Lead out of the cap

End result It's Alive ! Running fine - quick trip for Fuel all Ok

Question

What's everyone else using to get that R / hand plug in / out on a mk 2. ?

What am I missing I'm using a 17 mm ratchet spanner on the top of the plug spanner but it's a very Slow process

So what's the quickest way ?

Andy
