Long motorway stints are def not much fun but with plenty of short breaks they can be made easier.

I emailed Pieter at Motocamp with a few questions about credit cards, cash and fuel. Here is his reply. The hair drier bit was for the lovely Mrs TeDeum but will equally be of interest to riders of niners.

Goodmorning Chris,
In France you can use all bankcards in the shops, there are cashmachines in nearly every town of some importance. The nearest one to us is in Gourdon, approx 8 Kms from here. At the campsite ou cannot pay with a card; we only take cash or cheques. On Sunday's you might find it hard to get fuel (apart from the 'Peage' motorways) and pay with a credit/bankcard. In France the only allround accepted cards are VISA and even then sometimes they are refused if they are foreign.
About the hairdryer; we do not have them in our sanitary building so its best to bring your own. There are 220V French sockets available, so make sure you have a converter for the plug.

Looking forward to meeting you all

From the ferry me n Pete are heading here for the first night http://www.vayacamping.net/file.asp?par1=409&lang=en

then on to Motocamp

Rtt 09 - peterkelly - 24-06-2009

Sorry chaps but I am having to pull out of this one

I have had a few probs recently which culminated in a bit of melodrama while walking in pembrokeshire (flaked out in St Davids, ambulance trip, A&E Havorfordwest and loads of tests etc) which curtailed our break there and we are back home now. Looks like nothing life-threatening but .......going on bike and camping break to southern france is NOT being advised at present!

Hope you all have a good time and I certainly intend getting on a few more rideouts this year

all the best

Pete

Rtt 09 - TonyDevil - 24-06-2009
